***The Official 2019-S Extra Rare By Design Silver Eagle I Couldn't Get One Thread ***

TexastTexast Posts: 1,899 ✭✭✭✭

If your like me (and it seems like many of you are) were unable to order a manufactured to fit rare coin such as the 2019-S Enhanced Reverse Proof Coin put out by the mint today then this is the spot to post about it so the mint does not forget us after this blows over.

As in the past the officials at the mint really don't care about the average collector who has been buying there product year after year, unless it is to sell them on some "Collector only coin series" such as the American Innovation Coin which was a bit late in getting started, but is sure to be a hit with someone?!?

This year has just been pathetic, and today takes the cake.

If like me you thought you had outlived the computer crashes that happened so often a dozen years ago when trying to place a mint order on opening day you thought you had a chance, at least a simple chance of getting one ordered only to find out that you didn't I welcome you to voice here your thoughts on the matter.

Please keep it civil, I know some of the threads I read around ordering time we're way off the norm as for language (it was spicy to say the least), I don't want this going * Poof * for that reason.

I have heard over the years that the Career Mint Officials read the post here, and I hope this one gets read by them.

I tried by phone and it was a disaster..... the Mint answered, but when transferred to an 'order taker', it was always busy.... When I did finally get through, it was no longer available.... :'( Cheers, RickO

Same here. I’ve always enjoyed buying the regular ASE proofs, but no more. I’ll just let the Mint’s buddies in the flipping community take care of buying those.

Odd posture to take. But it is your right.

I don't think the mint will check here to make sure we're not forgotten. I didn't get one, and while 20 minutes worth of "oops... something went wrong" was pretty unacceptable, I'm not going to lose much sleep over it. I stopped buying mint products to keep many years ago, and there'll be another flip opportunity before too long. I'll buy a BU ASE for my Dansco in January, like I do every year.

If there was or is an opportunity to say why, then simply "oops... something went wrong" should be your response.

This was a pretty spectacular "opportunity" that hasn't been seen for years and I am surprised the system couldn't handle the load or it would have sold out in moments.

Back on October 10 when the Mint announced this ridiculously low mintage I e-mailed Mint Support urging them to up the mintage so most collectors would be able to get one. I got the following canned response:

"We are in receipt of your correspondence and apologize for any inconvenience experienced.

Please be advised that your complaint regarding the mintage limit associated with the 2019 American Eagle 1oz Silver Reverse Proof Coin (item number 19XE) has been forwarded on to upper management for your voice to be heard. We value the opinions of our customers and want to ensure that each customer receives the best experience possible with the United States Mint. "

Their response isn't the point here - the point is that I sent my e-mail to:

    USMint-support@usmcatalog.com

and you should be e-mailing them with your complaints on this. Maybe if enough people do so, they will faintly listen.

Hopefully the website will be working for the Silver John Q Adams medal next week ;)

    Not goading but real question...
They produced a coin with only 30k mintage... There are well more than 30k eagle collectors not to mention the flippers etc... What did you expect?
I have only bought a handful of these "hot" items but today went pretty much like every time... Refresh refresh refresh...

I am sorry that true collectors missed out.

Then do what? Overproduce every Mint product so that the price is guaranteed to drop? That doesn't build interest in Mint products.

Do you buy annual sets? Probably not. You know what, almost no one does anymore. Why? Because they drop to Face Value in the matter of a couple of years.

The Mint wants a "winner" in hopes that you keep playing the game. You can stop playing the game and not buy anymore Mint products. But what exactly could the Mint do to keep customers. They have lost 70% of their customer base over the last 20 years, so the old way wasn't working.

No. I want them to neither overproduce nor underproduce them.

Some of you might not know this ( so I should probably keep my mouth shut) but my nuts and candy order did go through. I'm one for two today so what the hell. It ain't over yet. Check back at the mint each morning except Sunday at 7:30 am et exactly just like you did today an noon et. Be ready just like today and I can all but guarantee you there will be at least one more day these will be available for a very short time and just as hard to get as today. I admit I only wanted for the flip so if I never get one I'll live but I'm up at that time drinking my coffee so why not try. It ain't over until it's over. BTW there was a hot item just like today I did get on the morning sales.
If you're wondering why they're selling orders that didn't complete for one reason or another
