1896-s Barber Half..........how to crack-out a $1500 profit from a newbie using sulfur

Step 1: Purchase an UNC details 1896-s Barber Half from Heritage for $1,140.
Step 2: Crack the coin out and artificially color it with sulfur.
Step 3: Say you found it in your 200 pottery barn safe and list it on eBay as Unc and omit the part of the prior cleaning and the fake toning you put on.
Step 4: Sell it for $2,700 and do NOT allow returns after the buyer finds out s/he's been taken.
I can only imagine what was going through the buyers mind when he found out he was scammed and left this negative feedback:
Offered free returns. Would not accept return when coin was deemed ungradable Buyer: i***d ( 258Teal star icon for feedback score in between 100 to 499) During past month

...like Alec said it best...A Loser IS a Loser!
We’ve seen the docktor before
Coin looks blatant
How on earth does his feedback remain so high despite all the crapola he sells? Are people really that gullible?.....and stupid?
Couldn't the buyer still return the coin despite the auction listing stating you cannot return? I thought I heard from others that you can still return a ebay coin despite that.
Many members on this forum that now it cannot fit in my signature. Please ask for entire list.
I feel no empathy for people who spend money on things when they have little knowledge.
The seller had larceny in his heart, there is little doubt, but the buyer did also.
No one can convince me that the buyer did not think that he could make big money by getting this slabbed and selling it for multiples of his purchase price. He thought he could swim with the sharks with impunity and then looks for sympathy when he learns he is bait.
He played, he lost. Cowboy up or go home, but he has nothing to whine about.
The listing says “Free 30 day returns”. So if the buyer attempted to return the coin within that time period and was refused, I think he does have something to “whine about”. Additionally, even if he bought the coin, thinking he was going to make big money, he didn’t lie or make any misrepresentations. On the other hand, it appears that the seller did.

Just an FYI, That coin has been sold at least 8 times for over 2K! I wonder how long ebay is going to continue refunding the fees from his obvious shill bidding. Surely he's not paying the Final Value Fees.
Looking at his sold items, apparently his customers have more money than brains

I want to ask him if the coin he is selling is the same coin sold by heritage auction last year and in the slim chance he answers and doesn't block me, then I would like to know who put it in the 200 year old safe...
But why waste my time
Unbelievable....this guy is a major scam artist.....Cheers, RickO
That's the kind of business model that will get you shot.
Coins are fun.
Can we post is eBay user name? Or did I miss it somewhere in this thread?
Just realized I can click the link to eBay. But for those that did not...
‘THEDOCKTER’ <— avoid that seller.
I believe in karma.
The one honest thing about this seller is his Ebay handle.

I would go on eBay and INAD (item not as described) and SNAD(significantly not as described) the seller to get a return and have them eat all the shipping cost too. It doesn't matter if the seller accepts returns or not, a SNAD return claim will always be available to the buyer.
The buyer clearly shouldn't be buying raw coins and the seller is clearly trying to catch a newbie...
How can you tell that the Heritage coin is the same as the one that would sold on eBay? Is there a definitive marking?
I see a few marks along the base of the neck that seem to match. Is there anything else?
Also a nick on the jaw. Yes, this seems conclusive.

Blatantly AT.
Blatant AT indeed. Suckers are born every minute...what a shame.
If the Buyer was a newbie, he may be lost forever as a collector.
If the Buyer was experienced, what on earth was he/she thinking???

There's no Santa Claus in the coin business kids... unless your a dealer rocking a long white beard and Hawaiian shirt in the summer. Which is only close...
Good to see the doc getting a negative feedback.
The Mint played Santa Claus today for some.
A while back, I asked thedockter how he slept at night. This was his response:
“After all of my operations, I would say struggle almost nightly.
Al”
Smitten with DBLCs.
LOL A bunch of old coins found in the safe of a 200 year old ceramic store, but the brick and architecture says 1940s-50s.

That’s the best part. It’s as if he isn’t even trying. Kind of puts the reasonable reliance element of a fraud claim in doubt.
Yes I see lots of similarities to the heritage coin, at least a dozen or so but then again working in Research and Development, my job is to find consistencies and nconsistencies in suspect materials.
It’s amazing how they bid that up, a raw coin.
MS60 CDN Bid $2000, MS63 Bid $2750. 17 bidders / 40 bids. Unbelievable
No question it has been shill bid up 8 or 10 times!
I bet so - shocking, feel sorry for buyer.
I don't think it's being purchased, If it has it has been returned many times!
