WOW. My account gets un-logged in right at noon.

I try to log back in and it says "not available - refresh" ... and then my account gets locked.

The USMint needs to pay/hire better computer science people. This is unnecessary / blatantly incompetent. Government. heh.

  • ADGADG Posts: 443 ✭✭✭

Yeah. Never got through the entire checkout. All gone. What a frenzy.

The pardon is for tyrants. They like to declare pardons on holidays, such as the birthday of the dictator, or Christ, or the Revolution. Dictators should be encouraged to keep it up. And we should be encouraged to remember that the promiscuous dispensation of clemency is not a sign of political liberality. It is instead one of those valuable, identifying marks of tyranny.

I got an order confirmation. Will they cancel the order on me if too many orders from other people went through?

  • PhillyJoePhillyJoe Posts: 2,706 ✭✭✭✭

I had one in my cart, confirmed shipping and billing, oops an error, refresh, item not available.
But if it was in my cart.....

As I said on another thread, the extremely low announced mintage was bound to attract hordes of flippers and collectors to this website all at the same time. The Mint's website got a free stress test and volume test today, courtesy of its customers …. and failed.

The website (and the Mint's director) today got the hammering they so richly deserved.

Not really sure if the mint cares that the website can’t handle the traffic. Coins all sold. People will do it again next flipping opportunity. It also creates a hype for the items and a sort of random lottery of purchases. Who knows if the last order was fulfilled by the first visitor or if the first with an item in the cart was shut out because of internet quality.

If the website could actually take the orders without crashing the sellout would be in seconds not minutes and people would still miss out.

have also posted this on another thread
So here is my sad tale:
I called a customer rep 10 minutes before coin went on sale. I also had the mint web site active on my computer. The CSR immediately tried to place the order for me when the coin became available but her site went down when she was trying to place the order. She was never able to place my order! I was able to place my order into my cart on line but when I tried to make payment for the order, the "oops something went wrong" message came up. I keep hitting the refresh button and after 5 times after it refreshed, it would still would not complete my order. Then the dreaded "Item is no longer available" popped up and sank my boat. The CSR also received this message as she was still on the phone with me in hopes that I could complete my purchase on line. Left a negative feedback on their survey form. The CSR has put me on a " Waiting list" for any purchase that does not "sell". She asked me if I had an email alert prior to the coins going on sale. I told her no. It came in later at 12:38 ET. oh well.

    Kennedys are my quest...

Coin in cart at 12 noon , played the refresh game for 18 minutes and item in cart magically converted to sold out/invalid.

No they will not cancel due to quantity sold to others. They always go unavailable with coins left. Once they figure out what actually sold (valid orders). This item will reappear for sale.

Actually, if they oversold it, they will cancel orders. Hasn't happened in a while, but the system was definitely overmatched today.

I also wouldn't expect to see too many reappear. Most reappearances are canceled orders. With a HHL of 1, you have to cancel a lot of orders to get more than a handful appear one morning at 7:30

Crash would seem to be an understatment. according to a mint salesman the coin was sold out within three minutes. They admitted that it was a Mint Server crash and that the mint will be addressing the issue, he had no information on how, or when.

Is three minutes a new record for the Mint?
