Grade me two 1923-S Walkers, one slabbed, one raw

    The graded example was a weak strike, so I am going to say XF40 possibly XF45.
    The second example is struck better but has more wear, so I will say VF35.

    Both coins are in the Vf35/Xf40 area. I’ve seen them slabbed somewhat inconsistently, but again we’re splitting hairs.
    Top coin also looks a little ‘cleanly’.

    I like the 2nd coin a bit better.

    I was very close to this, the wear at the top of the date made me wonder if I'd expect 15 or go with a 20.

    Regarding the coins, I'm in the 35ish camp.

    For their grades, I would buy the raw coin but not the ICG coin, which has a too-smooth "look" I don't like at all.

    When in doubt, don't.

    No way i would accept the slabbed coin as anything close to XF40.
