So I found a key date US-Philippines issue in a 15¢ world coin bin...

Decided to go to the LCS today and it paid off. Besides finding several nice Barber Dimes including a (rather ugly) 1894-O for $2 each, I looked through the world coin bin as well. Most of what I pulled was random tokens that the shop owner throws in there, but I did find a Filipino-US issue coin. Normally when I find these, they’re dated in the 1940s. Not this one, however. This was a 1916-S 5 Centavos. I don’t know the Filipino keys but I picked it up anyway. Took it to the Red Book at the front counter, flipped to the Philippines section and was surprised at the listed prices.
Here’s the coin:
I then pulled out my phone, looked at sold Ebay examples, and saw that similar grade coins had sold in the $60-$70 range. Needless to say, I bought it. Easily the best world coin bin find to date for me.
And just for fun, here’s the 94-O Barber Dime:
"You can't get just one gun." "You can't get just one tattoo." "You can't get just one 1796 Draped Bust Large Cent."
