Back in the day I mean 80's I recall engelhard silver bars were the premium bars you wanted to have. I see some are still available on the different bullion sites. I was wondering if they're still desirable and carry a premium over other bars of today. Or have they faded off beyond the horizon in favor of some other manufacturer? After all they're .999 fine like any other bar ect.
Thought about buying some but prices have risen a bit lately. I have some ASE's, morgans and other 90% coinage but have always liked bullion also.

    The silver bar collector market is an area I have not dabbled in.... I do have some art bars, but not the old Engelhard bars....There are avid silver bar collectors here though and they will be able to give you some good information. Cheers, RickO

    I had several bars many moons ago but sold out when silver hit 30-43/oz.

    generic engelhards and john matthey bars in generic sizes like 100 oz are still the most liquid and trade at better spreads to others.

    Yep... I have considered getting one or two small poured bars...They are interesting... as is my skull, silver bullet, lions head... all in silver. Cheers, RickO

    The only time I buy silver now is to flip it and use the funds to purchase gold. The only silver I have left for my PC is numismatic or Dan Carr issues. Oh, and I did keep this bar because I think they are really cool and nice in the hand.

    I strongly believe, that there are still living Englehard & JM collectors. Warning...they are a dying breed ;)

    Engelhard bars have always been on collectors want list. The smaller pours (1oz-10oz) seem to be the most active sizes. There has been a huge demand for other refiners as well...i.e. Harrington, Perth, Jade, JM, Foster, A. Westerfall, to name a few.

    Nice bars guys!!! I prefer the 10oz bars myself but the 100oz bars are very impressive in size and weight!!!

    @Meltdown.... :D I have seen that one before...at a show in the PNW.... I tried to buy it, but it was not for sale...the dealer really was having fun with it and felt it brought business to his table....It did!.... Cheers, RickO

    The missile launch bar is a fun one.
    Some art bars just have a little bit more cool factor$$ built in.
