Found a nice Classic Large Cent that didn't break the bank since these get crazy once you hit high VF. I cracked this out of NGC slab for my new type set album.
So the questions is, what NGC/PCGS grade would you guys would give this? Curious if the consensus is close to the original grade.

F12, nice midrange example of a Classic head cent.
Edited to add - the scratches were much less prominent on my iPhone than on my PC monitor.
I'm going with Details - Fine now that I can see it better.....and not as nice as I originally thought,.

My first impression was an immediate VG10; however, after seeing the slab shot I don't think it straight graded due to scratches. I give it a net grade of G6 so maybe they gave it Fine details scratched corroded?

Solid VG8. The obverse peripheral wear and digs in one of the stars in particular keeps it from a 10. A very pleasing example none the less.

I myself thought it was more a F12 but some of the scratches must of made them downgrade it. Glad to hear some thoughts.

I wish I had joined this thread before the grade was posted. I don't mind showing my ignorance so...
I hope my comments lead to some interesting disagreement and discussion. IMHO, the coin is severely under graded and I cannot believe it was straight graded!
First a fact. It seems that the lower a coin's state of wear gets, the more its defects are ignored. I'll never understand that? The coin was in a VG-8 slab (straight graded) in spite of several deep scratches - one very long taking up the PFA in front of the face, a corroded field and many cuts into its rims. What do we grade a coin in the same condition of wear with NONE OF THESE DEFECTS? Is straight grading a coin as this fair to the problem-free VG-8? Is it fair to the novice collector who relies on the opinion of a TPGS?
Thankfully, most of you believe the coin is at least Fine. IMHO you are correct, Fine - details. So, it appears this coin may have been "Net Graded."
Now I'm going to really stir the pot! I tend to grade these coins by their reverse! That's because (in my very limited experience) as is the case here with this coin, once they become very worn, the obverse looks much lower in grade than it actually is.
So if I'd have played GTG. I would have graded the coin F-15 because the coin is closer to the look of a VF-20 than a VG-10.
I would have guessed it was in a F-12, scratched slab.
The reverse does look F-VF; however, the obverse is no better than VG and it carries the grade. I have a 15 stashed away that has way more detail on the obverse and full rims. One would have to give an allowance for a poor obverse strike to consider a higher grade. IMO.
