A very special Brasher Doubloon arrived today in the mail

As a few of you here know that I am a big fan of Ron Landis of the Gallery Mint Museum.
I was very lucky when I was able to purchase his 1796 Proof set in gold, silver and copper.
It did not come with a case. I asked Ron if he could put together one and somehow let me display it on my desk
He not only came up with an original case he hand engraved the seal to 1796 set. Gosh its beautiful on my desk.

I've spoken to him regarding many things he has done and the process, what a great man and has time and patience to explain things!

Well I bought a special Brasher from Ron and it arrived today.It came with a handwritten letter ........I was so exited I rushed to take images and send it to him.
That when he decided to give me a Wonderfull description and details I asked him if he wouldn't mind me posting here as so many people would enjoy hearing from a top notch engraver.

Wow! That is amazing Stef! I knew he had made that but didn't think he would ever sell it! Congrats for picking it up. Ron couldn't have found a nicer home for it!

Here's my unique striking from Ron's 2014 Brasher series, a "1787" struck on a 1887.

Ricko - I think it's on the reverse but, you know how stars disappear when the sun comes up.....

@ricko I asked Ron, so I changed his words and left out 8 stars. He was just trying to make a point there are a variety of
star points and he did that as well.
This piece in hand is so beautiful, I wish I could do one of those videos so you can get a real feel for it.

Not really, this was made long ago and for himself. He has made a few other medals but
Is more into jamming sessions right now. However I’ve been trying to light his fire again
along with probably a few others like love his work. But I don’t think it will be anytime soon

I had my 49er. Baldwin & Co. 2002 Restrike S.S. Central America
Graded and trueviewed. Normally these are in slabs that state it’s gem.
with no cert number or grade.
I think it looks great.

Still cannot understand why copies are collected whether it has the word "COPY" stamped on it or not. We should all start making coins.

I would say so the rest of us can collect something only the super wealthy can afford. There have been many people doing this. A few come to mind Bolen, Merriam and more. It gives collectors like me very
much enjoyment owning them. I have other but here are a few.

1861 by Alfred Robinson of Hartford, Connecticut using dies by the Boston diesinker Joseph Merriam.
The lettering and date are in larger letters that the original and are in a different style.
According to Kenney twenty-five examples were struck in copper and twenty-five in brass.
