Black, Blue, Green? What’s your choice box

ScarsdaleCoinScarsdaleCoin Posts: 5,445 ✭✭✭✭✭

We have the new sleek Black box hitting from our host. Previously blue was the norm and of course the original Green (not counting the early original box of course). So what’s your favorite? What color would you have picked? Personally I would have gone with a deep Purple since Purple is color of royalty and coins are the hobby of Kings! What’s your thought?

Black was nice enough the first time around. Nice to see it come back. :)

We need a tie dye version. Or purple. I like purple.

    Umm......

If your submission is primarily one metal over another the box should be the color of the coins.

I vote for copper, silver and gold boxes! 😳

Q: When does a collector become a numismatist?

A: The year they spend more on their library than their coin collection.

A numismatist is judged more on the content of their library than the content of their cabinet.

I like they way the different colors contrast with the metallic colors of coins.

    Black for Au

Green for Ag, Pt, and Pd

    Blue for all others

Rattler boxes are great. There is nothing like opening a slab box with 20 Rattlers in it.

For my other stuff I prefer the box to match the color of the slab insert.

I got lucky as unbeknownst to me when I moved to my current home, my new neighbor was a longtime dealer in coins and I grew up reading his advertisements inside most of the known numismatic magazines. He took a liking to me and gave me one, he has several and when I told him there would likely be collectors who would pay for those he was shocked. A good coin dealer and a great man.

I find it odd that they change colors at all.
I think the green ones are great.
I think the blue ones are great.
I think the black ones are great (but they seem to attract dust like a magnet.)

    When in doubt, don't.

at the risk of being banned I will state that I would choose any color NGC box before any other, for obvious reasons.
