Show off your Topps Venezuelans!

In the last 3 years or so, this has become a significant focus of my card collecting. I searched for a thread and didn't find one, although that could be human error. In any case, please show your Topps Venies below!

I focus on the 1964 and 68 sets although, as a Yaz master collector, I've knocked out all his Topps Venz from other years. I'll conclude this first post with links to my 2 registry sets and then a photo of one of the biggest cards in my collection. Can't wait to see yours!

    Nice, Joe!

Forgot to mention, I have 101 PSA graded Venz and I’m subbing 20 more this month.

I don't have any in my collection, but I love seeing these. If anyone can post some backs along with their fronts, that would be great.

Good point. As I'm sure you and others on here know, back damage is often what keeps an otherwise mid grade Venz in a PSA 1 or 1.5 holder. These cards were sold in Venezuela with albums and jars of paste, and made of thinner, softer paper than their American counterparts, so a huge portion of the cards that survived either have paper loss on the back from removal from albums, or glue residue and excess paper from the same.

For me, the point is to own a copy at all, and condition is barely a concern. With that said, I've picked up some in the past 2-3 months with unusually clean backs. I'll show those in my next post momentarily.

As you can see, it's easy to tell if a 64 is Venz because the backs are black, instead of orange.

The 68's are harder to tell. IF the back is intact (big if) there is faint white fine print along a back edge, saying the card was made ("hecho") in Venezuela. Here are some of the nicer 68's I've picked up recently, shown front and back:

I love these! I don't have many in my collection right now, but have had some over the years and still have a few on my want list, 1964 Roger Maris and 1977 Thurman Munson being at the top. Here's a Reggie I've had for years

Great thread Dan. I only own two. Here is my contribution to the thread. It always amazes me when I see one these graded a 4 or better. That Killebrew is of the charts. Has to be the highest graded of him for that year. Dan I never tire of seeing that Yaz. rookie. Digging the 77 Reggie as well.

Good news: landed a Venz Pinieilla RC PSA 1

Bad news: it was wrapped in so much tape that, as I hacked away at it, I lightly scratched the back of the slab and deeply scratched the front

Good news: I'm mailing a bulk sub this week, so a crack and resub was more cost effective than a solitary reholder, and since it was only graded a 1, there was nothing to lose.

Here is the card after I cracked it out:
