If that was in our area they would be low-rent scummy vest pocket guys and they know exactly what they are doing, including acting as shills for each other in cahoots with the auctioneer.

This is what would be most likely hereabouts... many of the shills would not actually qualify as low-end vest pocket coin dealers, just friends of the auctioneer...

There's some big coins on that list. Should be entertaining and fun. I actually have gotten some great deals at our local auction houses even with the questionable bidding.

I’ve had some good success at local auctions but patience is required along with a bit of gamble. Ill buy something ~10-20% of the time. I have two PCGS/CAC 1909-S VDB’s and a PCGS/CAC 19955 DDO which I bought raw along with a 1854-S $20 which wound up in a PCGS 45 holder. I never bought anything fake, at least as far as I know, but I’ve also had multiple coins wind up in detail holders.

Looks like the Auctioneer doesn't know beans. Just hope the audience is in the dark too. I've attended auctions like this where an old guy sitting in front is paying Red Book prices (plus 10% auction fees) and other times I wanted to buy 'em all.

I want to say it was a couple of thousand. There were 3 or 4 in total. The 96 quarter was pushing 4K. The 70 and 74cc halves were near 1000. I paid 700 for the half dime which I think was too much. My max was 600. So much for a max.

Not as bad as I thought. Overall some good buys were had and some folks way overpaid.

That's a fairly early ACG slab, which means they were still a legit slabber. I wouldn't kick it out of the slab box in the morning.
