I like the single clean chop.

Tough date to find w/ chops. Wide CC?

I like the chop, I can deal with the crud around the eagles wings but the spot is slightly distracting.

What does the slab say on this one?

I really like chopmarked Trade $'s and I've had a couple rare ones, but that is a combo I have never seen before. Congrats Realone

What problem do you perceive this coin to have? I see it as a great XF, with honest wear. The mark on the obverse id have to see in hand, but it looks to be like a drill mark with crud filled in.

@Realone What do you think the obverse mark is?

Shish, I guess grading chops might not be your forte. But thanks for chiming in, much appreciated.
Lets see our hosts liked it as a 45, and JA agreed but Shish gave it a thumbs down, so who would I go with on this one........hmmmm.;)

go with chopmarked trade collectors. and I love it. you know how to contact me if/when you want to sell it :D

that said, @shish I love yours too.

It looks to me like someone tried to thumb the obverse spot in the field near Liberty's knee. The parallel lines around the spot (in both the coin and slab photos) would suggest that, but maybe they aren't as apparent in hand.

    Still a really neat coin.

You guys all have way more experience grading trade dollars than I have but to me it seems like there are obvious hairlines especially on the obverse field. Which tells me it has been cleaned at some point. I am at a disadvantage because I can’t see it in hand...From the pics that’s the way I see it. That being said I recognize the rarity of this piece and congratulate you on the find.

There's no disputing hairlines. The question is, is it distracting enough to warrant a cleaning grade? I believe it is not. I think the CAC sticker proves my assertion.

Title: "Newp Trade Dollar. All comments welcome."

Hard to argue that there is a dark spot and an attempt to wipe it. When I first saw the photo, I wondered to myself, "Why did @Realone buy a coin with a big spot that has been wiped?"

I see now. It is a rare variety with a chop. Enjoy!

Seems like a nice combination of a chop mark that is not too disfiguring, and a cool mint mark variety.

    If some people don't like the field surfaces based on photos, that seems perfectly normal;
people are just expressing what they personally look for in a coin (when photos are what they have to work with).

When I first read this, I thought you meant @Realone should be prepared, because you planned to make some shots (personal attacks).

But after reading it again, I think you may have meant that people who post this thread should be prepared, because they might face some critiques or attacks.

Please, let's keep the discussion on coins and not on negative things that might happen (even if you meant that in jest).
@Realone wants to be friendly, but is understandably sensitive due to things that have happened in the past.
I value his contributions and I hope you do, too.
