I'm not reporting, just want to see how high it will get

Why would you not report it?
Mark Feld* of Heritage Auctions*Unless otherwise noted, my posts here represent my personal opinions.
He said he wants to see how high it will go in his opening post.
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.
Someone bid him up before eBay pulls it.
I saw that, but it seems inconsistent with his stance on counterfeits, and like a poor reason. That said, I understand that there’s no obligation to report and such listings.

Letting it run means someone will get hurt..... Cheers, RickO
Agree that it should be reported. Unfortunately this scammer won't be banned by eBay and he will be back again with more Chinese produced fake coins.

Looks like ebay poofed the auction. Do you have a link to the seller?
No, it was some antique type store, outlet.
bob
Link for seller.

Is his hands 🖐 🤚 possibly both broken?
I was a bidder and was going to win the auction.....period. No need to report.

back in 24 hr auction 18 hrs left

I had already bid $40k.
At least we know he is a scammer and not merely ignorant about coins.
I can understand, that when coins are first listed, EBay doesn’t know which ones are counterfeit. What I can’t understand, is why they appear to be so forgiving of sellers who re-list items that have been taken down.

It's been nuked for the second time by eBay.
They want their cut.
Keeper of the VAM Catalog • Professional Coin Imaging • Prime Number Set • World Coins in Early America • British Trade Dollars
all of their auctions have been nuked, they had over 15
I get that, but they often remove listings which would have given them their cut. I wonder how bad a seller has to be before he is "removed"?

It looks like the third time is the charm:
Sold for $4150 July 25, 2019

I hope the high bidder was bidding only to protect someone else with no intention of completing the sale. If not someone was hurt by eBay's negligence in allowing this clown to remain on its platform after having twice removed the listing.
reported once again.
24 hour auction.......reported again (after the fact).

seller: everythingcollectible1of1 for future references.
It's the fake holders that worry me most.
100% Positive BST transactions
Looks like ebay nuked the auction..now for the 3d time.
Looks like it didn't get very far:
Can anyone suggest how an average collector can identify such fakes?
Research & homework. The coins in the listing have the wrong reverse for the year.
The date and the CC's are just plain wrong, my friend.
Reference book on what you are interested in buying. Study and look at a lot of coins (shows and dealer inventory helps).
bob
PS: the reverse on these dollars was not used on 1878cc dollars, period.
I can see the problems with the reverse (eagle's breast), mint mark, and date. But what if a forger with better skills were to get those details right. Would you be able to detect them as fakes? How are these made? Are they made of the correct alloy? Do they make a different sound when dropped? Another thing that I noticed about these fakes is that the lettering in E PLURIBUS UNUM appears too bold.
Keep asking questions, you will learn the answers in due time.
bob
It sold July 25, 2019 in yet another listing.
Thanks, Bob!
