    There is diagnostic spot on the reverse for the 1799. That spot is gone on this piece, perhaps for a reason.

    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals.     1798.... Looking at the pictures, it seems to show the full rounded top of an eight as opposed to the curve of the nine...Cheers, RickO
