Did your wife make it?

She did! We arrived a little after 5 in the afternoon. She was pretty much non-verbal at this point, and really almost in a coma-like state. She saw that my wife was there though, and managed to give her a big smile. She died at about 12:15 peacefully that night.

@jwitten I did not open this thread last year, so I missed the excitement of your wife and mother-in-law at the race. I am certain your mother-in-law thought of that event often in the last year and I am equally certain she realized how much you love your wife to help make the trip possible. As your wife mourns her Mom, she has the memories you helped provide to assist her through this incredibly tough time.

She sounds like a beautiful woman, inside and out. I’m so happy she made it to Churchill Downs. Love the pic with Gary Stevens.

Beautiful obituary. Sounds like the most wonderful Teacher, Mother, Wife, and Friend that anyone would love to know.
