Should I let Coinfacts install their "app?"

topstuftopstuf Posts: 14,803 ✭✭✭✭✭

I usually use my desktop for everything, but when I use my tablet Coinfacts pesters me incessantly to install their app.
Scared to as I have no idea if the URL would stay the same and not screw up the desktop.

I have it on my phone and iPad. Doesn't affect the desktop at all.

    Just a cautionary note --
Read the disclaimer completely before your install any SW application on your "smart phone" device. Most have draconian terms and conditions which can contribute to things you might not want.

Any specific "terms" on the Coinfacts one?

Users have to read and decide what to do.

From a practical viewpoint, does the application do anything to benefit you?

I have not used the "app." I know what it does to my experience on the tablet. :s
You can't even move without the intrusive pop-up inserting itself.
The ONLY reason I would install it would be to stop that aggravation.

My bank has a "Don't show me this again" feature. That would be nice.

Have the app on a smart phone. If I access Coin Facts via the the smart phone’s browser still get the pop-up with the app up too.

So it really doesn’t matter unless you stick with the app access only.

The App is great, especially at shows when considering buying. It gives you all the info you need in once place. Highly recommended.

THAT was what I thought. I can just stay OFF of the site when not on the desktop.
    Better experience anyway.
Even eBay rucks up the site when on a mobile device.

Maybe it's revenge on the millennials. >:)

Some apps say they need to have access to 'All' of your pics and videos. Never sure what that's about and I've declined to install some apps because of that. That said, I forget if Coinfacts said that but I did install it and it's great to have, particularly at shows. What else compares?

It's about advertising information collection. Everyone with a "smart phone" has been contributing to massive private data stores of personal information about you, your family, your friends -- everything. Further, they will grind, polish and sell anything - true or false - to make money off you. Experian and its unholy spawn are only the top. The heap gets much deeper.

CoinFacts is a great app. Shouldn’t affect the web site at all.

I usually prefer an app to a website and this is no exception.

The notice for it keeps cropping up at the bottom of my iPad. It's annoying, and it won’t go away no matter what I do. I’ve been burned a few times with stuff like this on my desktop, so I have learned to ignore it.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

It's a fantastic app. No alien abductions have happened to me yet. Or not that I know of.

The app is good. I actually have all the PCGS apps installed, I use some more than others.

I have it on my iPad and I highly encourage you to try the app, it beats using the browser by far, I promise you!
