If the price of Silver would rise to an all time high

I would say all time high on silver and gold. I guess it would be big news if any of the above 4 happened

If the price of Silver would drop to an all time low

I voted silver low. People like to complain more than brag, and all the silver stackers would be out a bundle.

    A political discussion

CAC, religion and political threads cause some issues. Not sure about PM prices.

If the price of Silver would rise to an all time high

The price of silver rising to an all time high since I have 100's of times more silver bullion than gold bullion.

If the price of Silver would rise to an all time high

A silver high would affect most collectors and really bring back the buzz.

Not one of your poll options, but a new government ban on private precious metal ownership.

  • joeykoinsjoeykoins Posts: 17,621 ✭✭✭✭✭

Yeah, I too would vote the RISE in Silver prices. Mainly because most probably that there are more coin collectors investing their money more on the cheaper of the two Precious Metals. I for one!

    None of the options.

Coin collecting is not about the raw commodity price of gold, silver, eggs or turnips.

Really? You mean to tell me if one purchases say, a set of Gold Eagles. Then the next day or week Gold would spike to over $2000 per. Oz. that same person wouldn't ponder on making a profit to sell at that Gold price?

You are thinking short-term. The hobby and business benefit from a large quantity of transactions between an increasing number of participants. An individual action is not even a "blip."

Sure, you're correct by stating this transaction wouldn't mean much for the Hobby/business but what I'm saying is that the prices of Gold/Silver can affect a coin collector when the price of metals, when first starting out, wasn't even on his radar. When I first started in being a coin collector, I too was not thinking G/S prices. I was only interested in the coin. Whether because it was old or the size. Now, today I constantly have on my mind Silver, Silver and more Silver! LOL

Perhaps something that has merit and a compelling foundation in what truly matters should be higher on the priority list.

If the price of Gold would rise to an all time high

I voted gold. Chances are if gold prices are nuts, silver won't be far behind.

The trouble is, if both metals are hot, it probably means the eoncomy has a serious problem. I'd rather have a good economy.

I want to thank each and everyone of you guy's that posted. Why? First because you posted and replied. but mostly for not scolding me for talking about Bullion in our "Coin Forum" section and not in the "Precious metals" section. I'm more comfortable staying in our neck of the woods. LOL

I didn't vote. There is much more to global economics than the US price of gold and silver.
