Sellers comments seem to be fairly straight forward and no over hyping. This in of itself is a rarity.

For the lowball collectors, I presume.

“You are bidding on this 1873-CC Carson City With Arrows United States Seated Liberty Dime. I am grading the coin in Poor or Filler condition. The coin is a real mess and only a partial mint mark is visible. The tops of both of the C's are visible with the C on the right more visible than the C on the left. At the right angle both C's are partially visible. This is more than wishful thinking on my part. I can't get a better photo. Graysheet bid in Good is $2500. As Always--100% guaranteed or full refund. Bid with confidence-I've been selling coins and collectibles for 45 years and been an ebay seller for over 20 years. SHIPPING QUOTE IS TO THE WEST COAST-WAIT FOR MY INVOICE FOR A SHIPPING DISCOUNT IF YOU ARE NEAR WISCONSIN. “

Is there a different MM position? I've randomly looked at a dozen or so on Heritage and in every one the tops of the CC are well above the bottoms of the ribbon. I only see a blank space, and relatively clearly, where the top of the right-hand C should be. I sure wouldn't blow $1000+ on hopes and dreams.

This auction is a classic example of why you should snipe.

Whoever wins this one paid to much and could have got it for alot less if bid at the last moment.

Agreed, it doesn’t seem to match up with known mm position

Seller added a lot of extra fluff or bs in this case. When originally listed it only mentioned the more than wishful thinking part.

Seller is looking for a big score

    Probably trying to.

But s/he does state a 30-day guarantee. Which is also rare, nowadays.

Correct, only one known reverse die (and mint mark position) for the 1873-CC with or without arrows dime.

Personally, I wouldn't gamble a $1K either, especially when there is only one known reverse die. Would PMD cause that appearance of what appears to be a mint mark? It does look like something is there. Good luck to the auction winner.

This sale is a prime example of why you should keep you powder dry when a butt ugly, uncertified, rare coin is offered to you.

Gawd, sold for $1025.00. That thing isn't worth ten bucks.

That is not a CC dime... Someone just blew a large amount of cash on nothing. Cheers, RickO

No can’t see it - don’t bid on it!

    Always check if mm visible.

I agree with Ricko, the right most 'C' is way too close to the ribbon.

I thought eBay offered return guarantees. Or was that only PayPal?
