Both New Frontier Bronze Medals, 1.5" and 3", are prizes in this give away. These are a nice compliment to the Apollo coins which will round out your collection.
Honor America’s achievement in space with the New Frontier 1.5 inch and 3 Inch Bronze Medals featuring Apollo 11 astronauts John Glenn, Neil A. Armstrong, Michael Collins and Edwin E. “Buzz” Aldrin.
This medal is a bronze duplicate of the New Frontier Congressional Gold Medal awarded to astronauts John Herschel Glenn Jr., Neil A. Armstrong, Edwin E. “Buzz” Aldrin Jr. and Michael Collins at a ceremony in the U.S. Capitol Building on November 16, 2011, in recognition of their significant contributions to society. The medals measures one and a half inches and three inches in diameter. The three inch is the same diameter and thickness as the gold medal.
The obverse depicts the portraits of Apollo 11 astronauts Neil A. Armstrong, Michael Collins, and Edwin E. “Buzz” Aldrin Jr. facing left; and Friendship 7 astronaut John Herschel Glenn Jr. facing right, representing the two historic missions. The design also features a partial view of the earth from orbit, as well as a horizon line with an astronaut walking on the lunar surface facing the flag. The names of all four astronauts, “JOHN GLENN,” “NEIL ARMSTRONG,” “MICHAEL COLLINS” and “BUZZ ALDRIN,” are inscribed along the outer rim.
The reverse features the Lunar Excursion Module orbiting the moon and the Friendship 7 mission capsule orbiting the earth with the inscription “WE CAME IN PEACE FOR ALL MANKIND.”

I was in the pediatric ward of the old Braddock Hospital in Braddock, Pennsylvania, an east of Pittsburgh. I was 6 years old and had just had my tonsils out. The nurses gathered the kids into a room with a small black and white TV and we all watched as Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon.
Well I wasn’t born yet but I have just about every dvd and book on the subject plus a couple projects floating around up there so here’s some photos

I was at a friend's house.
(At the risk of TMI; an old friend who a month later would be slogging through the mud at Woodstock with me and who I'll be meeting up with to go on a cruise with shortly.)
We were in my buddy's living room; my friend, our fiancee's and his old immigrant Aunt whose English was pretty weak.
We were watching the landing in amazement but the Aunt kept clucking her tongue and wagging her head in disbelief. "Studio. Itsa
Studio" she kept repeating.
Until the day she passed away mid 1970's she would not believe the moon landing was real.

I was at my grandmother's house watching on television. Gave me goose bumps. I was 14 at the time.

I was 11, lying on the floor and watching the TV with the rest of my family, in the house my parents were renting that summer, NE of Boston. The room was semi-circular, and looked out at the town harbor.
@jabba nice group of pix and items! Here's a copy of one of your images in the 5th picture. This one has been signed by 10 astronauts that have done spacewalks on the ISS. My favorite comment is by Franklin Chang-Diaz (tied for most launches, 7, by an American), "ISS EVA was like being in a forest with many different types of trees". (You'll find the comment at the bottom, right below the central astronaut). FWIW, all the mission numbers that are underlined are missions to the ISS.

Awesome giveaway! I was not born yet. I am amazed by the achievement though, and hope that one day we will send men (or women) back to the moon, and beyond! I think we are destined to explore unknown places.
I do remember the Moon Landing. I was 11 years old and the whole family was gathered around the TV watching, or trying to, Dad kept figiting with the rabbit ear antennas that were wrapped with aliminum foil trying to get a better picture without the snow.
It wasn't the best picture but we all saw the landing and Neil Armstrong stepping foot on the moon.
It is one of those things that you will never forget.
I wasn’t even close to born yet, but the technological feat this was is still amazing. I’m glad to see we’re finally getting back to space.

I was a camp Drum, the unit was there to do live fire missions of the "Honest John" rocket.
The unit provided TV's for all the troops to view the event.
As luck would have it, where I was the TV didn't work.

I was in the basement in my "clubhouse" with my friends watching on a small B&W portable. We had all eagerly followed the "space race" from 1963 on.
To this day, I am terribly saddened that we have to rely on the Soviets to transport our astronauts into space. Talk about a devastating blow to national pride.

I remember exactly where I was when Kennedy got shot ( sitting in my 3rd grade desk chair when a nun came in our room and told us) I don't remember where I was during the moon landing.
Wasn't born yet. My biggest space memory though was being home sick with my mom, who was a school teacher. We were watching the Challenger lift off and then disaster hit. She cried and cried for the brave people that lost their lives.
I was almost nine years old. Our entire family went to our friends house to watch the landing. There were seven kids aged between four and nine years old watching on the living room floor and four adults sitting on the furniture.
I was in Myrtle Beach, SC for the week of this event on leave from the service for a week. I was preparing to go overseas in two months. I remember sitting on a bed in the motel room with eyes glued to a black and white screen for hours. Great moment for me in history.

I was in the hospital and watched the landing from my mothers arms, as I was born on the 19th of July. I have a picture of her holding me with the t.v. on in the background, but not able to put my hands on it right now.

Over my aunts house. Parents were playing cards. They let us watch the event, I was 10 years old.
I have a tendency to fall asleep once in a horizontal position in the later evening. I remember that I fell asleep at the Drive-In movie (there is a blast from the past of things no longer a thing) showing of Ben Hur. We had a station wagon and I was in the back. Wouldn't you know, I slept through the chariot race.

Armstrong walks on moon. At 10:56 p.m. EDT, American astronaut Neil Armstrong, 240,000 miles from Earth, speaks these words to more than a billion people listening at home: “That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”
I was at my girlfriends home in the living room watching the TV with her family. We had been watching all evening. I had eventually let my self fall into the dreaded position. Yes, I nodded out.
No, I didn't miss the first steps on the moon. I either woke on my own or was wakened by one of the family. Memory has lost that detail but not that I "rested my eyes".
Every one was grinning and cheering. Proud and beyond happy. The collective "we" of the nation had done it ! It was an amazing moment.
I watched it at my grandmother’s house in South Carolina. The only person who thought it was cooler than me was her!

I was watching a small black and white TV with my brother and sister and our mother.
My dad was in Vietnam so I think he may have missed it.
It gave me goosebumps and a surge of pride and accomplishment that human beings could do something of such great magnitude.
I had an interest in astronomy and nature in general as long as my memory stretches back so I was probably more interested than some kids my age.
I do recall around that time having conversations with friends about how far along we would be in the year 2000 and we all assumed we would have flying cars and colonies on the moon and men in Mars and robots in every home.
But instead.....we have Facebook and Twitter.
I watched it on TV. I was awestruck!

Wasn't born yet. My parents were married in July 1969. I Think given the science of the times I find it amazing that this mission was accomplished. It just shows you what amazing minds can pull off given an objective and a deadline. Simply stunning. Thanks!

Filmed the whole life broadcast from my 24" b&w TV console on to my Super 8 movie camera. About 30 years ago, transferred the 8mm movie to a VHS tape. Finally, approx. 15 years ago, transferred my VHS home movies, which included the moon landing, on to DVD's. I promised myself, I'm done with transferring.
BTW, I have your 3" giveaway. Purchased it several years ago from the Mint and it's with the 3, 9-11 medals and just released Apollo 11 related coins.

I saw it on a small, snowy tv in school, the teacher was the only one excited about it, our class was just more excited to see a tv being rolled into the classroom. It really was a tremendous feat, but I still wonder to this day why it hasn't been repeated.

I am too young to remember the moon landing - in fact 1969 is a very hazy young memory for me. I only remember the last moon landing with Apollo 17 and watching it live on TV - we were at a baby sitters house and my brother and I were running in and out the front door convinced we could see the astronauts walking on the moon!
The whole Mercury/Gemini/Apollo programme was an amazing time, too bad NASA is a mere shell of what it used to be. If NASA had not been gutted I can imagine that even Mars would have been visited by now and we'd be wondering where next?
Sadly, I had to work that night.
But, then again, I had to work every day & night at the time.
When I found out about it, I was amazed, I went & bought all the day's newspapers.
And read them all.
I remember when Kennedy challenged the US to go to the moon & back.
Those were amazing times.

I was seven years old and spending the summer at my grandparents’ cabin near Lake Tahoe. Mom, grandma and grandpa and three kids all watched a small black and white TV with an outside antenna – we could barely get the Reno station with lots of echo from the mountains – it made the event seem even more far away and exciting.
My mother remembers being pregnant with me when Yuri Gagarin made his historic flight 58 years ago today. I made my appearance 6 months later, so have never known a time when we weren’t able to go into space.
At work, I’m still amazed at the computer code Margaret Hamilton did to help Neil and Buzz land that crazy thing.

Like GaCoinGuy, my birthday was the day before the landing. I had just turned 14 years old the day before the landing and was quite upset that it didn't happen on my birthday. Got my first telescope for Christmas that year....easily one of the most prized Christmas gifts I ever received. Although that one didn't survive, I have upgraded several times over the decades and now enjoy using my Zhumell Z10 dobsonian.
I was nine at the time watching it in our living room. my dad worked for the company that made the space suits with the company being big news in this area as well. I remember it well
A little over 13 hours to go.
