5,000$ for first submitted W mm quarter

Our host is offering a 5,000 reward for the first submitted Westpoint quarter and a unique label. Thought that was pretty cool. The link is below.

Our hosts’ President has started a thread about this.

Wow, sounds like a great opportunity. I won't be able to play but this will definitely be an awesome holder/story for someone! I wonder if the five "first discovery" coins will make it to a single collection in the end?
never say never batman, you never know
From the images on that other thread I wonder if multiple "first" will be in the same roll.
I was on lunch when I posted. Did not know
Thread is gone now.
Wow. Can't imagine what that 1st coin would fetch in the secondary market. Anyone have any initial guesses? At two million mintage a piece would the first one go north of 5k, more? .... and then drop significantly once the rest start to get pulled from circulation. I dunno. If I'm not successful in pulling any out of circulation I'll try to wait a year after they mania dies down and assemble a set, key word ... "try". I am hoping this years uncirculated quarters set include the 5 W's but since none of the prior years contained the S-mint I won't hold my breath.
you have to play the game to win just like the lottery, so off to the banks we go
"First Found" is largely meaningless. It's not like Remington paying $10,000 for the first Columbian half dollar off the press.
I've been off the grid (not with @Paradisefound
) for awhile. Is this quarter a mule, a mint error or what?
Ask the buyer of that first gold Kennedy Half sold in Chicago in 2014 if it was worth the insane premium paid!!! Ha!!!
First off the press is something different if it can be verified. But didn't Remington actually get the 2nd coin??? I remember reading that somewhere but would have to dig to figure it out.

Got a P in change yesterday.
If the Mint tells you the coins are out there, is the first found still the "First Discovery"?
I recall the same thing, due to the 1st one being imperfect.
Title is misleading. It's for the first graded w mint quarter. Send that bad boy with walkthrough if you find it. And then be sad when someone beats you by a day...
@illini420 yup... 100K!!!! I can't imagine what on earth drove someone to drop that kind of money. I hope I never know.

The mint is making and releasing 10 million W mint mark quarters randomly into circulation I believe. 2 million each of 5 different designs.
Perhaps someone who had a personal connection to JFK?
Everyone lucked out the first coin was a PCGS PR70DCAM. Imagine if it was a PR69CAM
Meanwhile, the "S" quarters with around half the "W" mintage are available in bags from the Mint at 35 cents each.
I guess the albums will need to be revised. Again.

@Insider2 the first thread about the W quarter was posted by @ricko, https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/1017400/w-mint-mark-quarter-and-the-pcgs-early-find-contest
But these are being released into circulation, which is part of the fun. You have to find them an pull them early to get some high grade ones.
Interesting information, thanks for sharing !!!
The first SUBMITTED discovery would be correct.
