A wonderful bucket-list acquisition if you like scarce Walkers

WhitWhit Posts: 318 ✭✭✭

Good evening, folks;

With thanks to Bajjerfan, a multi-year search came to an end today with the arrival of this elusive beauty below. It is a CAC'd PCGS 35. I hope you enjoy the photos, presented with Bajjerfan's consent. They are his, and spot on. Whit.

    Very nice old WLH.... great condition - commerce wear but no damage....A favorite coin of mine....and I can remember carrying them in my pocket as a young fellow...I wish I had saved a bunch of them. Cheers, RickO

    A beautiful circ Walker!

    Beautiful example - the reverse looks to be an easy XF.
    Also I think it is 'condition scarce' at this grade level.
    I recall owning 3 AUs, and a couple VGs, but had two customers needing
    this date in VF, and not being able to locate any in over a year.

    Super nice, and yes the 16-S is very tough in nice, original circulated grades. I have an XF-45 purchased from @TomB some years ago - and haven't seen a nice one until this posting!

    Now can someone post (or locate) a nice XF 1917-S reverse mintmarked piece (graded or raw)? That's supposed to be a 'common' date.

    Another interesting conditional coin....AU's are ALMOST plentiful (by early walker standards)....higher grade circs in XF, not so much.....

    Good evening, Catbert;

    No, I don't have pictures, though I have read Mark Goodman's book several times and I have followed discussions on photography here with great interest. Coin photography is a post-retirement goal.

    Thanks to all who commented!

    And good night ....

    Sold this one awhile back.

    Still got this one which I'm keeping. You're right in that it's common, but tough to find nice. Have not seen one I'd buy in quite a spell. If there was one I'd a snagged it.

    I like the "VF" better than the "XF ".

    The 1916-S is a tough coin....Unless you want a G-4, or an MS coin. I just picked mine up a few weeks ago. (Lower grade....but not a G-4). ;)

    Another beautifully circulated Walker posted by TommyType. Thank you for showing. I was at the Danbury CT coin show today, and saw no TPG mid-graded WLHs.
    Good night.
