    Hah, good guesses!

It's his 2011 strike on the 0.999 gold planchet...

Here is one struck over an 1859 S Double Eagle:

Very cool and I’m glad it’s not a chocolate coin😂

The bitterness of "Poor Quality" is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

I was going to "polished," but I guess that look kind of goes with items like this.

I have posted an example of the real thing on another thread.

Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

The finish on the .999 struck example does not look polished in hand, but rather a fine matte finish - quite attractive actually. The overs truck 1859-S was on a cleaned VF-EF specimen so IMO no real loss & like that it was earlier than 1861.

I haven't seen either of those for a while ...
There have been one or two of the brass version on eBay in the last year or so - both sold close to $200 each.
It has been a long time since I saw a gold one for sale.

LOL, hope you read the comments. It is not fake, but not an original 1861 that probably would sell for a good deal more than paid.
