What is your favorite type of copper?

I've traditionally had modern red copper and old brown copper with a bit of old toned copper. I've enjoyed all of these. I just picked up my first graded red-brown which looks about 70% red obverse (very flashy) and 60% red reverse (semi flashy). I'm still learning to appreciate it and thought I'd ask everyone what their favorite kind of copper is.

    Truth be told, for Lincolns and Indians, I went out of my way to get one of each. (Type collecting run amok!) Anything earlier, red becomes too rare and expensive....

    But I think I rather like a nice brown with full luster more than the red or red-brown.

    I only like red copper for pieces that are quite modern, like within the last 70 years. For example, the Proof cents from 1950 to date need to be red for me. For the earlier Proofs, R&B is perfectly okay. For most of the 19th century, brown works for me. I’ve gotten burned on the red stuff and tend to stay away from it.

    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    For new coins, I like the flash of mint fresh red copper with luster. For old copper, a soft chocolate brown is very pleasing. Cheers, RickO

    I prefer red, but like others have said, on older coins, brown works.

    Much prefer red however my wallet prefers RB and BN on early copper (pre 1900)

    Some refer to overgraded slabs as Coffins. I like to think of them as Happy Coins.

    I really like Browns with peripheral trace Red remaining and have a few coppers like this.

    My absolute favorite is the 8.33% copper mixed with silver, found in Early 1795-1834 Half Eagles.

    Very wishy washy opinion from the get go Zoins ( ;)) , it was also a good idea not to step on anyone's preference.
    My preference has always been as it should be as far as copper is concerned....BROWN!
