Coming from the same die in China....New collectors beware...old collectors won't be fooled, I hope!

Circled commonalities and very porous and lacking detail.

    That's just all sorts of bad. I have seen many issues of coins equally as bad recently and assume they are coming from the same network.

    The quality looks to be about the same as the counterfeit Proof silver Eagles that the Chinese made a couple of years ago.

    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    The amount of counterfeits on Ebay is staggering. The quality is improving rapidly. The lack of action by everyone is disheartening to say the least. I can't look for more than an hour without finding at least one fake. The sellers that are good at it are making more $$ than most dealers. I have seen sellers that have had dozens of listings removed over a one year period with absolutely no penalty except finally having their account shut down. Anyone can buy on Amazon and sell on ebay and make 1000's a year with ease. There is no one enforcing the CCPA. The FTC is asleep at the wheel. Those that have the influence to pressure those aiding the thieves have a "It's not me" attitude. There needs to be a forum dedicated to counterfeits, but no one cares enough to make it happen. This issue is the sole reason I started joining online coin forums, but I have almost given up hope of any action. I was fortunate enough to be invited to a private group that has contacts at ebay who actually does care and gets things removed. I am not very good at proving through diagnostics that a coin is counterfeit. I used to go to Coinfacts to compare what I think doesn't look right to known genuine examples. So that I could give the evidence needed for reporting, Two or three examples in high MS isn't enough to make sound conclusions. Now I have to watch auctions of fakes be completed knowing that many times the buyer will not know they got ripped off in time to do anything about it. It just about brings me to tears seeing this destroy our hobby. :'(
