I am hoping to attend my first Long Beach show next weekend. It will be my second show ever if I get there.

Who all is going?

Is there decent/ good cell reception there on the floor?

Are more people taking Paypal now or is cash still required predominantly?

I made arrangements (i.e., took vacation/leave), to be there on Friday!

I've found cell reception to be spotty on the floor, but if you get closer to the window by the food concession, or go up to the lobby, it's not a problem. (May depend on your provider....I'm on T-Mobile).

I haven't noticed a lot of PayPal transactions....but I'm a "cash guy", so I may just be missing them.

Suggest, if you are going on Saturday, that you get there early. It gets depressing late in the day as more-and-more dealers start disappearing.

    Have fun!

I'm on sprint and also find the reception spotty at Long Beach, nice show with a decent number of dealers big and small. Try and go Thurs or Fri as many dealers are gone by noon on Sat. I to usually use cash and I haven't been to this show in a year+ so there may be some dealers that use a square or other means of payment.

If you need some Pretty Pennies, stop by and see me at table 848. I have AT&T and no problem with cell reception.

I’ll be there on Friday. Love my two young kids but it will be nice to have a day away to do coins.

Paypal transactions are still unusual at shows in my experience. CASH leaves no electronic footprint

I’ll be down there as long as work doesn’t get in the way.

I only use cash and always get reception on Verizon.

  • I’ll be there of course.

Will be there at table 448, see you at the show!

Cash is always preferred, but more and more dealers do accept credit cards. With the exception of bullion transactions of course, unless you're willing to cover credit card processing fees. PayPal transactions are rare.

I always used cash at shows....Seems the preferred medium of exchange. Please be sure to write a show report.... Cheers, RickO

I am so excited!!! Looking forward to meeting some forum members and some of the PCGS crew. :)

Are there dealers whom specialize in varieties there? Should I bring some variety coins to trade? I do enjoy trading.

I plan to go Thursday and Friday.

    Sooooo excited!

Forum members please feel free to meet up at my table (848), say hi, introduce yourself, and if you like I'll take your photo for my show report. I know other forum members really like to put faces with the user names.

Yeah, I was going to mention that in this thread. It could put a damper on attendance at Long Beach, and disturb continuation of the strong showing we are hearing about at FUN!

Thursday and Saturday are looking like they will be "rain impaired", but maybe Friday won't be so bad until evening(?) (At least according to my source).

    Bring your umbrellas!

I got to drive in that traffic in the rain :o:o:o

I tried to talk a client of mine whom I am bringing to see my competitor into going on Friday, but that was a no go so it is on for Thursday.

  • Aspie_RoccoAspie_Rocco Posts: 3,690 ✭✭✭✭✭

I cannot decide whether to leave really early to arrive early or wait to arrive till 11-12.
The morning traffic in rain sounds like a nightmare.

  • Wish I could make it! I live 20 minutes away but my days off just switched from being Thursday's and Sundays to Wednesday and Sundays  Looks like I will be soaking it up from show reports this time!

    Windshield wipers.....Just saying. ;)

Enjoy the day! I'll be there tomorrow, (which is supposed to be relatively dry).

Am on the fence if I'll go Friday. Am not feeling 100%, felt hideous yesterday, and getting there in the rain is not something I want to deal with, given all of this. If I continue to feel better, may give it a shot.

Haven't been to a show in awhile; not that I plan on buying or selling, but just want to see who and what is there.

I'm hoping the exact opposite because I'm eyeing one coin in particular and I'd love to get it cheap.

Currently thundering and lightning by me, I'm afraid to look at the traffic map and see what the 710 looks like. But I am trying to get down there today.

Successful transactions with: wondercoin, Tetromibi, PerryHall, PlatinumDuck, JohnMaben/Pegasus Coin & Jewelry, CoinFlip, and coinlieutenant.

Having a blast! Met a few fellow forum members, scooped up some varieties.

I'll make my way back to this show in the future. If you have done business with lots of dealers and they can vouch for you, take some checks too. You usually don't get much heartache over that. I'm sorry, but I'm not a fan of having huge wads of cash on me.

Stay dry and write up a report so we can live the show thru you! :)

When it rains in Seattle we skip coin shows etc. and just stay indoors

Man, I love that show. As others have said, going earlier is best.

Cash is KING, for sure, but I do see guys exchanging large personal checks as well....my guess is they must know each other?

    Have a blast!!!
