I have a few, my favorite piece of baseball memorabilia is this September 1985 Gary Carter Met of the Month award. I won it when the Carter family auctioned off Gary's collection a couple of years ago. After that I was able to purchase the Bill Gallo original art used for the award. So, while it's two items, they go together so well that I'll show them both.

This is a pretty cool little item. Below is a scored program from the first game where Mickey Mantle sat in the dugout as a New York Yankee. While Mickey Charles Mantle would play in his first game as a Yankee in Fenway Park 1951, Mickey was called up to the Yankees by Casey Stengel at the end of 1950 after the Joplin Miners season had ended (Mickey was the league MVP). In typical Mickey fashion, he hid in the dugout for most of BP and has stated that it was all a blur and that his lasting memory of the game was being amazed at how quick and skilled Phil Rizzuto looked at short during pregame warmups.

Mine

Pelle Lindbergh rookie Jersey (1st set of the new style for 82-83 season). They ditched these pretty early as I believe the black piping and orange shoulder/arm stripe was supposed to go straight across below the neck instead of into the neck. All future versions went straight across. Bought from the trainer at their practice facility at Penn my freshman year. The press photo and yearbook pages are autographed.

Senior year 1988, pre-Sadie Hawkins dance, TGIFridays. Sitting at an elevated table next to the bar area, food shows up and I hear someone say, "Hey, look - we can eat this guy's fries". It's Lynn Swann, my all-time favorite football player, down in the bar. Chatted with us all through dinner, to the point where he excused himself to go sign some autographs for the table of football players sitting next to us and then came back. I was the talk of the dance - everyone assumed we were old pals based on how much time he spent with us. And, no - I wasn't interested in the girl that invited me Will probably get this slabbed in the new larger holder - it's starting to show its age...

Thanks. That was a great year. I went to a lot of practices and got some great autographs. Both times Edmonton played in Philly, they came in a day early and practiced. Got Gretzky on an 8 x 10, Goal Magazine poster and SI Sportsman of the Year cover

This one is hard but I'm gonna go with this one.

It's 66" high and still works - tho it could use some work.

It's more than often found without the base or the 65T-like banner on top - thus a premium ensues. Plus this thing cost a small ransom to have delivered.

I'm not a fan of restoring these since I like the "used/played" appearance of them.

Michael Doffing is a die-hard Ken Griffey Jr. collector who we recently featured here on the Upper Deck Blog for his birthday. Knowing how much Doffing enjoys Griffey and also knowing how much he has given back to fellow collectors over the years made him a perfect candidate for the Upper Deck Random Acts of Kindness promotion. We had Ken sign a personalized blow-up card to Doffing and sent it off to him along with some other limited-edition collectibles and promotional items we knew he would enjoy. We enjoyed reading his excited post on Facebook where he shared his excitement about receiving this unexpected package.

Those of you who know about where I spent my formative years (late 69s and early 70s NY Mets clubhouse) will understand why the subject ofbthese items is so important to me.

My son came to National with me a few years ago and found these and gave them to me as a gift

Gil Hodges was very kind to me. He was practically my 3rd grandfather. He was a warm, funny, caring man who also happens to be a great ball player and manager too.

My next favorite area - I started with one copy of sheet music and it took me on a long journey from the HOF's director of research - Tim Wiles - thru hundreds of searches on eBay and the net for variations copies.

The last copy - #29 - I picked up was sheer luck and happy to get it - I contacted Tim to have him aware - he wrote with 2 others - a tome on Take Me Out to the Ball Game in 2008.

It’s believed that the “first edition/printing” of the song was with Sadie Jansel on the cover.

To the best of my knowledge - no one has as many variations - based on picture inset - as I.

When I started this journey, the HOF had only 11 variations and I pretty much added a bunch to the list over the years.
