If the room were bigger they could get more tables. Spike in metals is probably a plus.

I went to Funtopics site and counted the number of dealers in the directory for this show.....over 550! I realize many share tables and some are certainly not coin (or paper) dealers.....but still.......that is one BIG show! I'm psyched!

It was supposed to be a joke but I forgot to add the little smiley :D A lot of folks seem to be doom and gloom about the state of the hobby and this shows that many are expecting a good show.

I found his comment amusing. I’ve attended a few shows where the Dealers outnumbered the Collectors. I’m sure he meant it in FUN. :)

RE: "I went to Funtopics site and counted the number of dealers in the directory for this show.....over 550!"

The ad says "over 1500 dealers"

So --- who's holding the cards with all those dealers? What happened to the 1,000 dealers that went missing?

  • amwldcoinamwldcoin Posts: 11,269 ✭✭✭✭✭

Must be their guestimate of vest pocket dealers walking the floor.

    That's a lot of vest-pockeT, under-the-table, behind-the-curtain, over-the-sholuder, out-back, gray-market, virtual dealers floating about. Better wear mud boots..... :)

I would wager 1/2 to 3/4 of the attendees are Vest Pocket Dealers or Dealers not set up at the show.

IMO, that's a little high. I will say that most are collectors with or w/o their family + the small percentage of folks who bring in junk to check. At this show we are going to be overwhelmed examining 1982 cents from these folks. :(

I wouldn't go looking for any vests at a Mens Warehouse within a 200mi radius of the convention center either!

If I was ever in the area, I'd like to attend the show. Sounds like the biggest of the year, except for ANA.

If I were going now, I would definitely take some 1982 cents just because of your comment :)

@SeattleSlammer - Can you do it for me? ;) Then tell him "with Bochiman's best wishes" ... LOL

Will the Chinese Alliance of Counterfeiters have a table --- or maybe an "under the table?"

    ;)

  • Insider2Insider2 Posts: 14,452 ✭✭✭✭✭

There is going to be a counterfeit seminar sponsored by PNG for their dealers. Most of the fakes they show would get past a majority of the Chinese counterfeiters. :p

Maybe not too far off in the immediate future. Internet buying and selling is growing bigger, and bigger, and bigger, like Climate Control, too late to fix it.

There are some things we as humans are incapable of changing ("fixing") no matter what we do. The climate of the earth has changed since the earth was formed (before humans) and will continue to change for as long as the earth exists. Nevertheless, humans can have control of the internet. They can even conspire to shut it down everywhere by some means so IMO, comparing the Internet to the earth's climate is pure uninformed nonsense that should not even be discussed in this thread! Oops, sorry. :(

Oh my, your pithy comment is the typical uninformed yet totally unexpected reaction from any member here to the undeniable scientific fact that I have posted above.

Actually, any properly educated or informed person (you do not need a BS in Geology with a minor in Biology) knows that the climate of the earth has changed in the past during periods of cooling and warming caused BY OUR SUN and having nothing to do with the presence of plants, animals, humans or their inventions.

Unfortunately, the rules and the focus of this forum prevent me from continuing to relate what I have learned from actual "experts" in the field.

I studied geology! One of the biggest factors of climate change in the past was due to volcanic eruptions! Perhaps we need another big one to bring the temps down a little.

They don't need a table. All they need to do is hold up a sign with the acronym "CAC" and people will come.
