The No Motto 1866-S double eagle is scarcer than its With Motto counterpart with a mintage of only 120,000 coins. Most surviving examples are usually heavily circulated.

The 1849-D is one of the more common Dahlonega Mint dollars.
And here is the only true pattern that I own. The other two "patterns" in my collection are the 1792 half disme and the 1836 On-Base Gobrecht Dollar. I don't view either coins as a pattern. The 1836 gold dollar is the most common gold pattern in the U.S. series. It was restruck numerous times, and unlike the Gobrecht, there is no way to tell the restrikes from the original issue pieces.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?16 -

FYI the coin which was posted by @Regulated is one of only three error pieces known for early gold...a mis-aligned die caused the error...probably missed by those looking for errors because the mis-alignment is really only seen on one side...and the coin was probably face down in the pile as it was checked...

If that list includes the 1813 brockage maker, I've owned all three. There is an error early $10 that has yet to be graded that I know isn't on this list. I suspect that it will end up in a holder next year, although I'm not sure any of the powers that be understand it yet...
