65+ perhaps PL? perhaps even CCF? lulz Congrats!!!

  • CCGGGCCGGG Posts: 1,267 ✭✭✭✭✭

If it's genuine, it's a 5. Could even be a 6 but the gash over the eye may hurt it.

Even with the noticeable scratch over the eye, and the scrape in the left field?

    MS-64

MS-64 or 63 depending on face abrasions that are not clear in the photo.

Why don't you put up a dartboard app with the different grades scattered around(don't forget the various details grades possible). I'll throw at it and have just as much of a chance of anyone grading from your pictures!

  • ElKevvoElKevvo Posts: 4,137 ✭✭✭✭✭

I'm a gonna go with a 63...you can zoom in on the photo and really see the detail. A lot of contact marks and the one over the eye is severe. Slice in the neck as well as minor marks across all areas of the coin. Without seeing it in hand tough to tell as others have mentioned. Nice photo BTW!

    I'm thinking 64

A very nice coin. From the pic, I would say AU58. The hair looks a little AUish. Would need to see some better pics to accurately determine though.

  • SmudgeSmudge Posts: 9,817 ✭✭✭✭✭

You are probably about right. The hair wear or weak strike around the ear may limit it to 58. Nice looking coin though.

  • lkeneficlkenefic Posts: 8,559 ✭✭✭✭✭

I'm thinking 64. I think the contact mark over the eye is the limiting factor. The reverse of this coin is gorgeous... 2-3 marks?

Contact marks and the eye gash put this one at 62. You have an excellent photo but I find it hard to read, so there’s my guess.

MS 63 your vision is drawn to the major contact points.

    I like it as a 63

Gorgeous if it were to grade a 64 it would get a CAC sticker for sure. It looks between 64-65

Looks like a Frankenstein 64 to me. Or a pro footballer.

I'm kind of thrown off by the "non-standard" photo, and don't want to guess. Almost looks like a black-and-white rendition.

Weakness over the ear. Scrape above the left eye of Liberty (eagle is fine).
MS67. If reflective and colorful, MS68.

58 to 62 depending on the mood.

    I'm with 1Mike1; 58 to 63 if genuine. If it's a 65 or better why isn't in a slab by now? If it's a crack out why?

MS63.... Picture grade.... Coin grade could be different.... I think we have a new acronym CGCBD.... We know pictures can be drastically misleading... so when doing a GTG from pictures, we add CGCBD....instant wiggle room... :D Cheers, RickO

    63+

    Don't quote me on that.

  • david3142david3142 Posts: 3,598 ✭✭✭✭✭

It’s nearly impossible to grade this with any accuracy from the pics. From the hit we can clearly see, I think it’s limited to 64. Maybe the photo is hiding some wear or a cleaning, who knows? For an 02-S it is certainly worth submitting.

    I agree. Nice coin

Nose gash, above eye gash, denticle gash lower neck and scratches in field I would feel hold it to a 63.

The hit above the eye makes it no better than an MS 63 IMO.

Photos updated. Not sure what I did when I saved the files. New photos are good....I think.

Looks suspiciously like photos from an oft-mentioned purveyor of problem coins on eBay. Nice looking, but could have a lot hidden in the flatness of the photos.

I am standing by my grades outside of adding I'd drop four or five points now that I've seen your better photos.

New pics show a lot of hits. The rim impressions on the brow is crushing. Lots of field hits, too. That rim ding is bad, too. 63
