    I’m a bit older, but still in school. There are some members closer to your age as well.

    I suspect there are others younger. They post once to ask a question and then return with another username and repeat.

    Stick around @coinzzz, you will learn a lot. But you still need sleep and to do your school work. This is only a hobby.

    Have fun!

    Half of us here are as old as the coins we collect. The rest are older! Seriously though, good question! Now I'm curious, who here is the oldest on our forum? Which eldest commands our respect?

    @coinzzz

    I'm glad there are young numismatists on this forum. There was nothing remotely like this when I was toiling over Red Book numbers and making my lawn mower money stretch as far as it could go. Learn all you can. There are some very knowledgeable members on this forum.

    Oh, and welcome!!

    I was a MS70 when I was born (newly minted in coin terminology), I'm now a VG 10, maybe.... No doubt my coins have aged much better than I have, but hey they just sit a in sealed slab.

    Most in the hobby are multiples of your age. Double your age would still be a baby. If you're not old enough to run for president, you're practically still a young numismatist. :D Triple your age would still be "young" in this hobby. Most of us here, although older, probably started collecting around your age or even earlier.

    Welcome!

    There are lots of 14 year-olds, and even younger who collect coins. Coin collectors are split across different ends of the age spectrum; the very old and the very young with not much in-between. Going to a coin show, you mostly see the very old and few if any of the young. This is because the very young don't have cars of their own and need their parent's support to make it out to a show. The very young also have less disposable income as they are not old enough to legally work and have not yet earned a college degree or several years of professional experience.

    Most people in their 30's and 40's are busy raising a family of their own and don't have the time and money to devote to coin collecting. They may have a fascination in coin collection, but that fascination is usually in hibernation until their kids have moved out and the house is paid off. That's when the coin collector in them re-emerges.

    Check YouTube if you don't believe there are plenty of kid collectors. All of these kid and early-teen collectors will likely stray away from the hobby in their 20s' through 50's but will someday grow old and once again be coin collectors when they are 60+.

    Keep your collection. One day you will be able to hold a coin and say 'I've had this for over 50 years!'

    I was born in May of 1968 in between the 2 assassinations in April and June. A very trying time in the U.S. To celebrate my birthday, the Mint put the MM's back on the coins and brought back the Proof sets after 3 yrs.

    Pretty cool to be the youngest person on the forum! Ask plenty of questions. Whatever you do, please don’t act like the youngest. A few months ago some grownups were acting like a bunch of four year old kids at a Chuck E. Cheese birthday party. It wasn’t very pretty.
