I started collecting around 8 years old with my grandfather, searching through rolls of cents.

There certainly are others here your age... in fact, at least one younger....Glad you are here... and many members have worried that there were not young collectors.. You prove that there are...Enjoy the forum and your coins... Cheers, RickO
I'm glad there are young numismatists on this forum. There was nothing remotely like this when I was toiling over Red Book numbers and making my lawn mower money stretch as far as it could go. Learn all you can. There are some very knowledgeable members on this forum.
Oh, and welcome!!

Welcome - I started collecting a few years
before your age, and turned a hobby into
a 46+ year profession. It's a great hobby,
and a wonderful way to learn about history
and economics.

Most in the hobby are multiples of your age. Double your age would still be a baby. If you're not old enough to run for president, you're practically still a young numismatist. Triple your age would still be "young" in this hobby. Most of us here, although older, probably started collecting around your age or even earlier.

Welcome!
I just turned 2^5 this week! I guess I'm still a young numismatist then!
I shall never grow up. Age is irrelevant to collecting coins. Welcome @coinzzz and be prepared to bookmark important links to reference sites. And Ho ho ho! Peace Roy
welcome coinzzz, @airplanenut began if I recall at your age, reach out to him for moral support, he's a solid example of someone your age that grew and morphed into his 30's now and still sane, breathin and ticking!
There are lots of 14 year-olds, and even younger who collect coins. Coin collectors are split across different ends of the age spectrum; the very old and the very young with not much in-between. Going to a coin show, you mostly see the very old and few if any of the young. This is because the very young don't have cars of their own and need their parent's support to make it out to a show. The very young also have less disposable income as they are not old enough to legally work and have not yet earned a college degree or several years of professional experience.
Most people in their 30's and 40's are busy raising a family of their own and don't have the time and money to devote to coin collecting. They may have a fascination in coin collection, but that fascination is usually in hibernation until their kids have moved out and the house is paid off. That's when the coin collector in them re-emerges.
Check YouTube if you don't believe there are plenty of kid collectors. All of these kid and early-teen collectors will likely stray away from the hobby in their 20s' through 50's but will someday grow old and once again be coin collectors when they are 60+.
Keep your collection. One day you will be able to hold a coin and say 'I've had this for over 50 years!'
I was born in May of 1968 in between the 2 assassinations in April and June. A very trying time in the U.S. To celebrate my birthday, the Mint put the MM's back on the coins and brought back the Proof sets after 3 yrs.
Pretty cool to be the youngest person on the forum! Ask plenty of questions. Whatever you do, please don’t act like the youngest. A few months ago some grownups were acting like a bunch of four year old kids at a Chuck E. Cheese birthday party. It wasn’t very pretty.

I suspect there are others younger. They post once to ask a question and then return with another username and repeat.
Stick around @coinzzz, you will learn a lot. But you still need sleep and to do your school work. This is only a hobby.
Have fun!
