Any guesses on how this turns out?

Hmmm. Still upright. I guess that’s good. Couldn’t open it I suspect. If so, that means nobody else could either.

Probably an emotional day being back there. Best wishes. We’re all dying to hear how it turns out.

    Edited to add:
Looking more closely looks like it was on its side. Did you retrieve it or move it??

Wonder what happened to the blocks that were surrounding it? Looks like it was messed with but I dunno.

    Let’s start here.
Let’s hear from the folks that thinks I was able to spin the dial and the safe just opened on it own with no persuasive measures.

Was not upright. We had to muscle the heavy thing to the upright position to allow the tumblers to drop IF the dial turned.

If it was as hurky as you said and built to be fireproof -- should turn, albeit some grit could make it stiff to turn. Hopefully fire not too hot to heat interior too much. Cheering you on!

I for one am glad you finally made it back to your property.

If the safe was upright when you left I wonder what happened to tip it over on its side?

Assuming that the safe has remained untouched since you left it the only things that would damage the door and or the locking mechanism would be heat from the fire, water from the rain, water or chemicals from any fire fighters on scene or the contents inside the safe reacting to the heat.

I suspect the safe did not easily open with the combination and a turn of the handle. Hopefully I am wrong.

Also I hope the contents of the safe are undamaged.

Thankfully the contents of the safe remained inside it. I hope all of the contents of the safe are intact and that you did not lose anything of value.

As for the slabbed coins, if the were not damaged they can be reholdered. I would chip in to cover some of the cost to reholder your coins.

The question is whether the heat caused damage to any of your coins in the slabs.

    Ugh.....

I'm hoping that the slabs actually were able to protect to some degree, and that perhaps the nickel was more resistant to the heat than a 90% silver coin.

I'm so sorry but still hopeful.

Do not trust anything you care about to one of these types safes.

    WHEW !!

Fortunately plastic's melt point is WAY lower than most metals. A mess but salvageable. Looks like the pistola fared good, will ride another day :)

Yes I do have puddle of silver from the other safe. Here are some items that were in my good safe in a cigar box. I haven’t the slightest idea to do about this mess. These are, were, some nice coins I was going to submit.

glad you got the stuff - I think 200 degrees for 30 minutes would melt that plastic - fireproof safe but not heat proof.
