@EagleEye ... Thanks for showing us those coins....I would say your collection would pair well with @AuroraBorealis collection of Morgans.... I know he visited you recently, did he view these coins?? Must have been tempting for Wayne.... :D Cheers, RickO

Does blue automatically mean they were MS70'd? I recall there being blue proof Indians way before the "MS70" saga. Perhaps they are all "guilty by association" now?

Thanks, I do recall that thread, but it got much larger since I last looked at it.

So now my question is, will PCGS grade and/or will CAC approve ANY blue Indian Cent now? Is it just the so-called "neon" ones that get no-graded, or not approved?

I would assume heritage would send the set to CAC or the coins would have gone. In this market its a must to max out your money

In this market I think it’s a mistake to send an entire collection to CAC before selling. Just include some PQ pieces to make it obvious that nothing has been sent, and maybe even state it as fact. Then let the market “guess”. Otherwise half the collection will languish.

Sure. If you’re a price buyer

If you’ve bought the goods then flaunt it

Would you prefer (as a consigner) that bidders assume that all of the pieces were CAC rejects? Rightly or wrongly, many assume that any coin above a certain dollar threshold has been to CAC.

Especially with those colors... If one of them did bean, there are many of buyers more than willing to throw fistfuls of cash at it.

No, not every coin goes to CAC. We were told by two collectors there is a dealer out there who tells them he does not trust CAC. Why they went along with that I will never know.

I just be when in doubt use CAC as insurance.

Given past experience/discussion on toned proof IHCs....I think there are quite a few proof IHCs that wouldn't get a CAC sticker. Doesn't mean the toning isn't NT. Doesn't mean the grade isn't correct (or better). Just means it wouldn't get a sticker.

"If you’ve bought the goods then flaunt it"

-This is pertaining to complete sets like the above, and not individual coins:
If you have "the goods" (most or all coins would CAC) it will be obvious in an auction to the people who matter, regardless of slabs, stickers, or anything else.
If you do not have "the goods", better to hope the coins speak to potential buyers and let them see quality where they will.

Being that JA doesn't bid on Proof Indian cents (and neither do I), a CAC (and photo seal) is really meaningless, except for academic reasons. I mean the reason to have CAC sticker is so JA will buy it at his bid, right? These toned pieces sell for so much over the "bid" price, that the bid price is not even worth considering.

The reason I don't bid on Proof Indians is the opposite reason against these. I hate spots and there are many proofs with spots. The reported greysheet bids are basically for spotted coins.

Rick, I agree with you on the spots.
A few of mine have some minor spotting, but I really try to minimize/avoid the spots on proof IHCs.

Prices really skyrocket when getting to the PR66 level, which is where there should be no spotting (imho).
Finding PR63/64 or even 65, without spotting, can be more challenging (65 is a bit easier, in my limited experience).

Not rue at all about CAC. They DO sticker toned Indians if the toning is genuine. JA does not have to make bids, nor does that mean he wouldn't buy the coins. He knows these coins sell too strong vs any possible bids anyway.

I still say, when it comes to funky toned copper coins (ANY) be safe, buy on cac.

"I mean the reason to have CAC sticker is so JA will buy it at his bid, right?" As a collector my answer to Rick's question is "Wrong" . There are many reasons that I like to own CAC approved Liberty Seated Dollars & Trade dollars, selling to JA is not one of the reasons.
