The United States Mint’s American Innovation $1 Coin Program is set to release its first coin on December 14. The 2018 American Innovation $1 Proof coin (18GA), minted at the San Francisco Mint, is the first in a series that will produce unique coins for each of the 50 states, in addition to the District of Columbia and various U.S. territories, to honor and commemorate American ingenuity and innovation.
Who is in ? For all 50 + ?
I don't think I will chase this one. I'm not enthused enough to start because if I do I will have to go all the way. Just how I am. I am doing the 5oz ATB's and all the State Quarte's programs. Series fatigue caught me.
I won't criticize anybody who want these...some or all. It looks like it could be interesting.

Yeah, but, the Mint hasn't gone this way on it's series. Who knows, it could be a one to do a gold version.
I will... get the inaugural coin. The rest is still debateable. I guess I will need to see what the initial states put on the coin before committing for the long haul.
Too bad there is no limits on the proof.
Hold out for the Complete Set in 202? from Littleton. Or off ebay from a multitude of sad Floppers looking to bail.
Bet you can get the Complete Set for Face + 10% at most. Keep your eyes down over the years and you'll probably complete a Set from Parking Lot finds.😂

I think I will get the proofs only about 25$ or less a year.
Finally a dollar coin that will replace the dollar bill. What we really need is a five dollar coin put out into circulation.
I still don't like the blank obv field. And why the tease about the first patent. Gimme some potash, a beaker or whatever to do with that chemical compound. Musta been pretty important to get the first patent in the U.S. Peace Roy

The obverse looks un-finished to me
I like the obverse design and the concept of having the same liberty obverse for 14 years. The reverse is less than stellar.
I especially like the design after reading how the useless CCAC panned it.

I do know that I will never put a graded set together. Takes too much space so a Dansco type folder will do nicely. Who would pay more to entomb a common $7 coin in plastic? I know, you will all think the 70 collectors. They can have them. I'll probably wait and crackout the 69s for $7.
I will get the first one and see how things go. If the series gets political I'll drop it like a hot rock. How can this get political? One way is by omitting widely recognized innovators like Samuel Colt and Eli Whitney because of their association with firearms.

Good question Roy... I do not know the answer - though I am a fan of Springfield handguns...
As to the 'Innovation' coin.... This is another non-starter for me....poor design, information on edge not on obverse/reverse...totally uninteresting theme.. and NCLT. Cheers, RickO
For me... the obverse is too stark, the reverse is too cluttered. So far, I don't feel a desire to collect these.
My strategy is about collecting what I intend to keep, not investing in what I plan to sell.
I thought these were not going to be released for general circulation. Just as Numismatic sales. Correct?
It's not too late, just say "NO". Oh wait, that didn't work. Oh, well, just look the other way; this thing looks like a cheap entry token for the Statue of Liberty.

It's terrible, uninspired, unoriginal, and designed by committee. Anyone can make a design like this in PowerPoint with stock photos. Unbelievable that it took FOUR designers (aside: have some modesty and HIDE your initials in the design) to come up with this and each had to stop and think "yeah, that'l do" let alone an entire approving body.

Hate to say it because I respect the Statue of Liberty as a symbol and all but most of the time I don’t think it looks good on a coin.
