Dolly Parton and the Roosevelt Dime.

I was watching Fallon last night and Dolly Parton was on, so naturally I looked her up online and noticed she was born on January 19th, 1946. As I was looking at the date, it occured to me I knew that date. It just struck me that the Roosevelt Dime was first struck at the Philly mint on this exact date January 19th, 1946.
Not sure about anyone here, but I think that is something.

United States Mint Joins Country Music Star Dolly Parton to Release Young Eaglet into the Wild
April 10, 2008
Dandridge, Tennessee — On April 10, at 8 a.m. (ET), Gloria C. Eskridge, the United States Mint’s Associate Director for Sales and Marketing, and country music legend Dolly Parton released back into the wild a young eaglet rescued by the American Eagle Foundation. The release, led by Al Cecere, founder and president of the American Eagle Foundation, took place in a ceremony at Douglas Lake located in the foothills of the Great Smokey Mountains.

Also my mother in law's birthday! Interestingly enough...she is about the only person around me on a regular basis that has a coin collection!
I just had to open this thread...….then somewhat disappointed.

@DIMEMAN
News broadcast on the bald eagle release with the US Mint.
Anyone have an example of the Bald Eagle Commemorative Coin?
Now we need a slabbed dime with her autograph on the label.
Dolly Parton should be associated with the Dollie Madison dollar.

No doubt NGC would handle it.
Sorry to disappoint you all. I thought it was a neat coincidence.
Later, Paul.
Only if it is a "Double D"ie variety..
You know, I have heard worse ideas.
It sure would be a great way to rid oneself of a bunch of BU 1946 dimes.
Dolly Parton. Two dimes. Oh....The possibilities. Let your imaginations run wild boys. Unfortunately, it's not 1976. Oh well.
Dolly and her foundations have given millions of dollars to people who lost their homes/lives in the Gatlinburg/Smoky Mountain wildfires two years ago. Folks can tease all they want, but the biggest thing about her is her heart and generosity.
Absolutely. A very big hearted and generous woman.
Later, Paul.
Yeah, I decided not to let the Beavis and Butthead sitting on my shoulder to have me go there......
But, yes, the possibilities....😀
I don't think Dimes would do the job. It would take Quarters maybe Halves to get it done!

Well...there is the 1946 "Double D"ie reverse Walker just sayin'

Her efforts with education in the local community
and her efforts with the book reading program with
elementary school kids should not be overlooked.
Not disappointed at all. I think it's a very cool coincidence. Dolly Parton is a wonderful person. I wonder how many numismatist know what day the Roosevelt Dime was first struck. I didn't. My hat off to you for knowing that.
That is a cool coincidence.... and I think a commemorative slab with the '46D dime and the insert signed by Dolly would be a big hit...Cheers, RickO
I know I would buy my wife one. She is from East Tn and Dolly was her hero growing up. She even watched her movie while giving birth to our daughter a few years ago! lol

All kidding aside Dolly Parton is a great humanitarian. She has given so much to so many people in need at times of need. She gave millions to house people several years ago after the fires in TN destroyed their homes.
January of 1946 was a very good month for our family. My Dad landed in New York on a troop ship bringing him home alive from the Pacific Theater. My sister has the telegram he sent Ma.
Excellent.
Sadly, the Tennessee state legislature does not seem to feel the same way about education and literacy.
Your wife has beautiful hair. Love those redheads!
@Hydrant ...My wife is a redhead... blazing red....Redheads are special, in several ways...Cheers, RickO
There are several 1946-D RPMs, making them 1946 Double D's. I love the idea. I'd buy one.
I sent Dolly a tweet to tell her what I found out. I'll post if I hear back.
Geez, I must be bored!
Later, Paul.
I always did like that bust.
Of Roosevelt.

These were the two Dollar commemoratives -- one mint state, and one proof:
I like. The obverse face of the flying eagle has outstanding simplistic details and conveys (to me) determination. The reverse eagle’s head is... well... an afterthought.
Hmm... the search is on.
Thanks @cardinal!
About the reverse...the central portion of the reverse showing the eagle in that depiction actually conforms precisely to the stamp that George Washington used to seal his approval on official documents.
Here's an image of one of George Washington's document seals:
So, in the case, it's almost like George Washington stamped his seal of approval on the coin!!
Thanks @cardinal. It is good to see a comparison. The overall design of the seal is great. I guess I was too focused on the “eye” of the eagle on the coin. It just appears too bulbous but after zooming to the eye... I notice what appears to be a hint of a possible pupil. Maybe wishful thinking but it is interesting.
