This, the Number 12 Fortress, is the highest point one can reach climbing the Great Wall - some 95 stories upward on very uneven steps. My motivation for reaching the top was learning that my guide had directed Nicolas Cage and LeBron James to this point.
As a post script to the immediately above photo on Tianammen Square, my cap posted on the security barrier fence apparently drew the attention of the police as you can see from the one headed in my direction. It was later pointed out to me that there are multiple camera trees (as pictured below) that capture every movement.
Just as I snapped the above photo a gust of wind fortunately blew my cap back toward me. Had it blown the other way and I had gone after it there would have been no crowd in which to disappear.
Bought my grand-daughter some new slippers not expecting her to wear them often because she likes to go barefoot as much as possible. Mom sent this picture to us...I guess she likes them!
My wife was pulled down while walking the dog(squirrel!) and her knees got hit pretty bad.....so we made the best of it.
