Just won this Pilgrim. Really liked the sellers photos, not a usual situation. I like the reverse better but like the whole coin overall.

If the coin looks like the photo, it is very nice. Something seems off with the lighting.

The image appears to have been enhanced or at least expertly lit. Actually, the image looks better than any Pilgrim I've ever seen! I almost want to buy the photo and frame it.

Hmmmm. The coin certainly has die polish lines (inside the lettering, etc.) but the surfaces seem to be completely flat and lifeless. It may just be the photo technique, but I'm inclined to think die polish lines AND cleaning/polishing.
The first photos are pretty, but they don't have a look consistent with natural mint luster.
The sellers photo shows the die lines, but not the scratches(that I feel are either cleaning scratches or polishing scratches). I don't feel this coin worthy of keeping and submitting. I realize that I am not a coin photographer and didn't use best lighting or a camera stand, but still my pics are not even close to the seller's as far as lustre? goes. Added my photos.

Not good. Next time look hard enough for a real GEM...you don't have to look hard. skip that coin you chose and buy and already graded GEM with ultra clean surface and color. This coin was well under $400 and is definitely an upgrade candidate. Its a MS 67, IMO. Got it right on the BST board. JUST DO YOUR RESEARCH and BUY GRADED COINS FROM PEOPLE YOU KNOW. I KNOW FROM EXPERIENCE.
I find your Pilgrim over the top beautiful. You don’t need to buy graded coins if you know what you’re doing and you do, Jim.

These pilgrims are very well known for heavy die polishing lines. I have a gorgeous one that loaded with die polishing lines. So that would be my guess.
One more post and I'll leave this alone. Thanks for your comments. I took these pics with natural light only and the lustre shows much better.

Images of coins are always better when they are taken out of a stapled flip. I personally hate those damn stapled flips. Sooooo many coins have been destroyed by these stapled flips and I wish like hell good folks would quit using them.
If you don’t live and learn, you’re doomed. Wasaaaaay to many scratches on coins due to these stapled flips.

The OP picture looks to be over exposed to me, which can hide a lot. Here are two takes on this commemorative, one white, the other one toned. The toned one is graded MS-64. I believe that the white one was graded MS-63, although I'm not sure because I no longer own it.

One of my favorite coins. Quite a while ago I purchased a Long Island commem off of eBay, photos looked great, very few marks, great detail etc. I was excited but when I got it the coin was lifeless and not at all what I expected. It was not a lot of money and I still have it as a lesson. Of course I found out afterwards that the seller was well known for the photos, not so much for the quality of the coins behind the photos.
Just curious...does your coin have the same marks as the one in the sellers photos above the R in Pilgrim? Hard to tell in your shots..

Yes, GRIM has many die lines as does most of the coin's outer rims in about 1/4" or so. My photos do not seem to pick up the lower left as does the seller's.
