one more overwhelming hobby .....
Noe 1, This variety is sort of the poster child for the large Pine Tree Shillings
Noe 16. One of the most common small planchet Pine Tree Shillings
And the "little guy," a Pine Tree Three Pence. This coin is much scarcer than the shilling, but since it's small it's less popular and ends up selling for about the same price.
There's this one too. But it isn't a pine.
And it's trimmed back quite a bit now.
It's WORK
This pine tree on my property was going to fall on my house. I love pine trees but not the ones that’ll kill ya
That’s a gorgeous pine tree shilling you’re showing
I don't have one
Dang Topstuff, I got a Juniper that looks like a pine tree as well. This is a very large bonsai that we use as a Christmas tree every year.
I love that Straight Tree - probably the most distinctive Pine Tree out there:

Bonsai need incentive.
Apologies to those who have by now realized that I wish I had a Pine Tree Shilling to post.
Lovely Pine Tree shillings... I do not have one, but will one day.... Cheers, RickO
A nice attractively toned circulated noe 8

This one's a little smaller - maybe it's more of a shrub:

@Regulated
If you will sell it at a 'shrub' price instead of a 'tree' price, I may be interested

That coin is in my personal collection and will be part of the ANA Museum display for the next few years, so I can't put a price on it...

That's some pretty macho color, Mr. Getz...

In terms of quality, that "shrub" is closer to a redwood.
It's B-U-tiful.
only when light is applied to it otherwise its grey or almost black
As it should be - most pieces of Mass Silver that have pretty looking toning that's apparent at every angle also have underlying hairlines, in my experience.

Your sixpence is phenominal ! You ever track down a pedigree?
I think these are pine trees...
My current "Box of 20"
I am a fan of each and every one of these beautiful coins. Definitely on my Wish List.
Still remember being shocked when I saw how big the large planchets are. Diameter close to a half dollar:

It came out of nowhere in the 1990s, from what I can tell. It's a pity that there wasn't some kind of background in the auction catalogue where it first appeared. The funny thing is that the picture doesn't do it justice - it should probably be in a 66 holder.

topstuf ..... when you accidentally kill one of your bonsais, so you do a Viking Funeral for them .....
Who remembers this one?

@1630Boston thanks!:) i never thought id own a noe 1 but now that i do its one of my favorite coins. This one has some really nice greenish blues behind the tree and throughout the letters but its hard to capture on camera. You should keep your eye out for a noe 1
That's a juniper.
This is a pine.
