My current coin collecting interests are: (1) British coins 1838-1970 in XF-AU-UNC, (2) silver type coins in XF-AU with that classic medium gray coloration and exceptional eye appeal.19 -

I have a Roman Denarius with a date inscribed 42 BC.
My strategy is about collecting what I intend to keep, not investing in what I plan to sell.

German struck by Friedrich August I. (1694-1733) in silver 22mm diameter and translates to Obverse "If you are not faithful to me" Reverse "Be free".
Pictorial wise Obverse "cupid (love) pooping on a heart with a very polite "screw you" Reverse.

1688 American Plantations token are the first coinage authorized for the British Colonies in North America.
These pure tin tokens were struck at the Tower Mint in London for circulation in the New England and New York plantation colonies of England.
All examples are rare, and always have rough surfaces. Most specimens have a common "tin pesting" appearance as the tin changes from its shiny metallic form to a brittle gray one.

My oldest dated piece is this 1600 Elizabeth I six pence.
It was struck from a die that was over dated from 1590.
Here is my oldest coin, a Roman Republic quadrigatus. The estimated date interval is 225 to 215 BC.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. Thanks for the comments on my Lion Daalder. Hard to find one that 1) wasn't horribly made to begin with or 2) hasn't been cleaned or corroded or whatnot. @Boosibri 's is beautiful. Best I've ever seen by a long shot. @Yorkshireman has a nice one, too. Pretty sure all three are/were CRO pieces!
Turns out though, this is my oldest dated coin. This type is super affordable.
Currently stalking an even older dated coin later this week... fingers crossed.

Like many here, have old Greek and Roman coins without a date, and oldest dated coin is a 1585 Lion Daalder. Will look for a pic.
