It is a gold coin, therefore I like it... Though I prefer 'dirty' gold to tarnished gold... Saying that, I never turn down any gold... :D Cheers, RickO

It's wouldn't be a true toned gold thread without at least one iodine comment ;)

That was my first thought, but giving it the benefit of doubt that the old ANACS paper label toned it.

I have collected toned gold for a decade and have spent a lot of time learning what original gold looks like and what altered color looks like. Much of that learning has come from buying coins out of very old collections and buying foreign pieces where the incentive to alter coins is less. I'd encourage you to do the same before dismissing comments like mine.

I'm just glad you don't work for PCGS or NGC, lol. Almost all of my toners are straight graded by them, including the few I've bought from you.

I won't distract from your thread any longer. I would just encourage you to be a bit more skeptical and to not accept the opinions of the TPG's without your own critical thinking. As you know, there are a lot of problem coins in problem free holders.

Even if I disagree, I like hearing your opinions on my toners. Let me know if you ever come across any more for sell!

FWIW, when I owned it I believed it could be toned via slab label, via prior storage in coin wallet of some sort, and/or possibly some iodine at some point along its loooong journey.

    Regardless, it’s cool.
