Could you please explain why this coin has been singing to you for a year?
In honor of the memory of Cpl. Michael E. Thompson
Cuz I'm new started with wheat pennies and it would add to my collection Im on fixed income and can't go buy everything shiny I see
What is your budget and what are you specifically looking for? Are you interested in any Morgan Dollar or is there something special about this one?
It seems like you can get a much better coin with not a lot of money. If the date/mm matter to you, you can get a white PCGS MS64 or MS64+ for less than $100 on eBay. There are a bunch of auctions as well so you can possibly do much better (less expensive).
Here's a MS64+.

Nothing wrong with that, but I guess they are saying that these are common coins - no reason to haggle over price - the price is pretty much set. If she wont sell at that price, I am sure you can find someone who will.
I don't blame you for wanting a few silver dollars. Everyone deserves a little silver in their collection, and Morgans are a nice way to add it.
Great story, good luck !!!
These coins would come under "buying everything shiny you see ". You can do better
Some where beteen 1x and 2x melt to me.
Fair value is probably $25 but why get an ugly AU for that when you could get a nice choice BU for $45?
The OP asked for value...though I am sure the other opinions will be given the consideration that they deserve.
$20-25 would be a fair offer.
I’m guessing the image washes it out.
The crawling rim toning and apparent luster and lack of any distracting marks make me think it’s a nice wholesome coin in hand.
Did you just DUP the posting?
I answered you on the other side ........
Common date circ. Might be an okay coin in hand, but nothing I would pine for for a year. You could buy 100 of them tomorrow if you wanted. IMHO
I'd pay $14, remember your going to need to spend another $4 on the tarnx to remove all that nasty tone.
The whole worlds off its rocker, buy Gold™.
BOOMIN!™
Wooooha! Did someone just say it's officially "TACO™" Tuesday????
Best of luck, you are very patient!
"Could you please explain why this coin has been singing to you for a year??""
I was thinking the same thing??
An unexciting, common date circulated Morgan Dollar. If offered to a dealer he would pay base price for an AU and toss it into the AU box. For that coin the song has ended.
You really can do better for not much more money.
Twenty five bucks and you are doing her a favor since she is a friend. I'm not judging, but a whole year?
Hey, sometimes honest wear on a classic coin from an historic era is very appealing. Think of where its been.
Longer than any pursue I would ever consider
I lusted after an 1803 half dime in fully struck AU for a few years, I have to admit that this coin would not be on my list.
I'm glad that everyone here knows exactly what the OP's position (age, knowledge, experience, monetary funding, etc) is, since almost all of the comments seem to have all that info in mind with the replies.
To the OP, if there is nothing special about the coin to you, other than being a circulated, in pretty good shape, raw heavy silver dollar (Morgan), then the $20-$25 range would be very fair to her, if she were willing, and not a big hit to you, compared to other comparables.
If it is just a nice silver dollar, and you don't have many opportunities to see/buy others, due to where you live or where you are able to go, then you may be able to get slightly better, for around the same price, on the BST (take due caution though) here....or on ebay.
If you are open to things, maybe let people know:
Many folks here are actually pretty helpful. Some just want to hear themselves talk or to make fun of others, because they think it is funny, but many are more than helpful and just need some info in order to be more helpful.
Good luck if you do get the coin and I hope it is what you want in that case.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
Sold a very similar coin on eBay for $17., this month. Paid a walk-in customer $13.
In high school, back in '69, we didn't have Ebay but the prices were about the same for such.
Final answer : about $20 if you're feeling generous.
(As usual; edited for spelling, grammar and punctuation ).

I think this is another post about the same coin/situation.... Check the other post for my reply. Cheers, RickO
I said in the other thread that if you are able to get to a LCS they should have a tray of Morgans for you to pick from.
Either way, good luck!
