Rainy day here in Jersey. Post your copper for the weekend. This one isnt mine, but I've long admired it as it languishes unappreciated on the Bay of E. Prettiest Conder token I've ever seen...

Here is a medalet that is attributed to John C. Fremont's 1856 presidential run. Fremont was a noted explorer of the far western United States.

18th Century Token, Middlesex, copper Promissory Penny, 1798, issued by coin dealer Matthew Young, draped Britannia seated left on bow of ship, holding trident and palm branch, with shield bearing arms of the City of London, cornucopia of coins to side, St Paul's Cathedral beyond. Rare

That's beautiful! If that's languishing, I'm guessing it may be because the owner appreciates it so much it has a higher than market price?

Matthew Young was the guy who restruck the American Plantations tokens, and I recently found a report from an 1835-dated magazine about him selling Continental Currency "items" (QDB's current term for the former Continental Dollar) at his shop in London.

That coin is likely in the condition census...very nice!

It's an N-9, and should be finest known (and it's new to the census) - it's PCGS MS63 and I think Grellman called it an EAC 55 or 58 when he saw it.

1797 D&H906 Middlesex. MS64RB
One of my favorite Conder Tokens. Very difficult to find fully struck. Rare already but
to find a wall struck one because of the very high detail is very diffulcut. Usually you
will find one with “stuff” in his teeth and flattened nose.

I bought this Conder token long ago because I loved the silver dollar size and one side being practically full red. It's a big old piece of copper!

A very nice mix of copper with a wide array of colors. I have noticed that this medal and the one posted by Cardinal seem to have a certain color that seems to be unique to medals. Is it the copper mix or storage method or something else? Or am I dreaming?

I believe that it is the finish that placed on copper and bronze in the 19th century. The U.S. Mint medals routinely had this rich mahogany finish. Then we got the crappy sandblasted finish.

I think mahogany is a good description of the color, brown with just a touch of red from the copper.

Seeing the medals remind me of seeing the British Antiques Roadshow and the appraiser was grabbing medals out of the display case and touching them all over with his bare fingers. Ouch
