Just picked up a group of 4 1962 and 2 1961 sealed proof sets @$20 ea. I'm leaning towards opening, what would you do?

    Personally, I've always regretted opening original packages. Maybe 'cause I've never hit it big.
    Once you open it, the thrill of what could be is gone.

    Please open them. They wont decrease in value much if they're just run of the mill coins. Maybe there's some DCAMs in there.

    I always open them.... even the unopened GSA packs I purchased back in the '90's... opened right after I got them. I like to see what I have. Cheers, RickO

    It isn't like people are lined up around the block to buy unopened 1961 and 1962 proof sets.

    The only possible score is if you have some scarce DCAMs in there. And there's only one way to find out... :)

    Open them. For the 1961 sets you have a chance of finding a DDR half dollar. The would be a great find.

    I believe it's been determined that 1961 and 1962 proof sets did NOT come sealed from the mint.

    I've never found a sealed set. Were any of them sealed by the Mint when produced? I don't think so. The labels are gummed but never sealed.

    I had 10 unopened 1960 mint sets opened 2 and the other 8 are giving me the hairy eyeball
