My fellow rare coin lovers,
We shouldn’t be making political comments, but we did want to bring to your attention the politicians who have been friendly to the coin market. Below is an email from Barry Stuppler outlining a list of our “friends” in congress. I don’t know a lot about these Senators and Representatives, but I do know these guys have helped us in the past few years. And while we’re at it, thanks to Barry Stuppler and Jimmie Hayes for putting this list together and everything else they do for our market.

As Election Day approaches, the Gold and Silver PAC would like to make our members aware of several legislators who have been actively supportive in our legislative efforts
These congressman and Senators have been particularly supportive of our 2014 legislation and our current concerns about anti-counterfeiting and interstate sales tax issues.
The list below contains both Democrats and Republicans that we wish to recognize for their efforts. There will be some, in the future, that we would also like to acknowledge.

Fortunately no one from WA on the list since many of us mailed our ballots in last week....
I, too, voted weeks ago. Keep this in mind for future elections.
A list of almost the same number of Republicans and Democrats (it's an odd number, so it couldn't be even). Shocking! In a good way.
Even if one were mentioned in Washington, where I vote, I would look at more than just the numismatic record of the politician.
Coins are a hobby I love, but they can affect so many other parts of life (quality, financials, safety, education, etc) that those things trump hobby enjoyment for me.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

I firmly believe in numismatics as the world's greatest hobby, but recognize that this is a luxury and without collectors, we can all spend/melt our collections/inventories.

Interesting..... None from my state.... However, I am intensely political and study the issues and individuals extensively. While this could certainly be part of my research, the major issues carry far more weight in making decisions. Cheers, RickO

One of the tax laws that needs to be changed is provision that only gains on coin sales are recognized. I agree that coins should not be used for losses that reduce reportable income, BUT if you have gain should be able offset that with losses.
In the old days if you showed that coin sales were a source of income, losses could be used to offset gains. That is not the case today. My accountant says I've got to have many transactions a year to take the losses even if you would be reporting overall gains from coin sales.
Gamblers get treated better than coin collectors in this regard. They can offset their losses against their winnings.
Help save California from doom! Most have drank the Kool-Aid!
BTW Go after China. They are killing our hobby with fake coins in fake holders.

That might change with the new president. He's not happy with the current trade deals, and I can't imagine that he will be soft on counterfeit goods from China ... not even coins.
Great post. And this goes beyond coins, as it involves gold and silver in all forms. PM stackers, like myself, know the manipulation and rigging by the Fed, the criminal banks, etc. They have robbed the American public of vast amounts of wealth and continue to prevent true price discovery in the PM market. GATA is another commendable group in this regard.
