Forum outage that was brief this morning
That was unsettling when the forum was down earlier today, particularly after the recent damn news

My screen said “user banned”, thought what did I do? Then I had time to reflect on if I could live without the forum. I suppose I would miss it but would get over it.
That said, I’m sure another one would pop up somewhere where we could all find each other.
Shutting down this place is the second biggest favor Pcgs could do for Ngc.

If they must shut down anything....With the Supreme Court decision on collecting sales tax, it would make more sense to shut down all the BST sites, unless PCGS is willing to follow ebays way of handling it.
Related?
I don't see how it would be PCGS's responsibility to collect sales tax despite having the BST sub-forum.
I experienced that this morning !!!
Out from under my rock.....what news?
Knowledge is the enemy of fear
I thought I should be given a chance to complete my contest tomorrow first and say 'Aloha Nui Loa'
b&m traffic at all time high today lol
It does raise the question: in the event this board is nuked, where would we all regroup? ....
DH Terminated at PCGS
Empty Nest Collection
...I thought I was toast for sure
Interesting.
Knowledge is the enemy of fear
I asked the same question in some damn thread and never did get a straight answer!
We need to have 'insurance plan'
Sleepy Hollow.

I would say the NGC board, but we might crash their server if there was more than 3 posts in one day.
Cointalk? Is anyone a member there?
My YouTube Channel
Yesterday the company that hosts the forum had a software problem. That's why everything was down.
Do not worry. We have no intention of taking the forums down permanently.
Post away. Just keep it clean!
Awesome!

I have been getting the PM notice (e-mail) about 16 hrs after the fact,,,,,, anyone else?
I post infrequently at "Coin Talk". The "newbie"
situation is quite different. The "Is this error valuable?"
is at times overwhelming . Similar to the "1883-O BMP"
thread here. Not every coin you examine is an error.
99% of the time it is PMD. I am sure Fred Weinberg
and John Sullivan can elaborate on this issue, and much
more diplomatically and politely than I.
IMO a public message board like this poses complicated issues for a public company like PCGS. For example, at what point do you censor comments that can be construed a libelous to others, other companies, your competitors? If you censor some and not others, have you become complicit? It's complicated and, for that reason, I'd understand if PCGS decided better of having a general discussion board like this with a lot of venting.

This name has been applied to the NGC forum, but of late, it’s seemed more like a graveyard. They have consolidated a lot of their categories to perhaps make seem like there is more activity over there, but seems like it’s slower than ever.
The newbie thing on CT is out of control. Half of the post on the site are about doubled die coins and PMD. Half of them want to argue when they get the bad news. Less and less members are even trying to help. It's a mess.

Well said !!
I've been over at CT for the last few years. On a daily basis,
I receive an E-mail from them on some of the popular questions
on different forums that they have. A large portion of the
questions pretain to "How much is it worth" supposed
errors. After awhile it gets annoying. Sometimes I think its
trolls trying to anger the rest of us.
i got some message about the cloud blocking my screen name due to security. its fine now
This. It's strictly a buyer-seller thing.
Read the rules. It's their board. IMO you have no expectation of unlimited freedom of speech when you post here. Their failure to remove something that you or someone else may find offensive does not constitute approval on their part.
. A large portion of the
Coin Community has the same "problem" . The vast majority of posts are related to supposed error coins.
Google: Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act
Basically an internet forum owner cannot be held libel for anything posted on their forum, except if the internet owner also participates in the same posts.
If this law wasn't in effect, there would be no internet forums, or Facebook, Twitter, Disqus, Reddit, etc, etc, etc.
So actually, it's not complicated at all.
Oh boy
Reading @JohnF's post is like having your corn flakes pi$$ed on in a drive by
"Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working" Pablo Picasso
maybe it was a hint they are finally shutting this place down....I dunno why anyone would miss it. Don't people have lives?
Lol. I considered this and reread my post and I totally agree with you. I wasn't trying to rain on anyone's parade. I was only trying to consider the thought process management might have in weighing the value/risk of hosting this forum. I won't go into it further. It's not my web site.

A few members have gotten banned and later come slinking back, while others could never be accused of slinking anywhere.

Yup. People still trying to peddle _____.
