Yes, I picked up one of those some years ago. I don't recall the state and I never opened it but I suspect it's still worth about $25. Maybe less if you consider inflation.

At one point I had unc rolls (both P&D's) from all 50 states. They just got in the way so I deposited all of them in the bank. (Keep a few rolls that had some value)

I remember that the Delaware bag was selling for over $700 at one point. The whole thing seemed silly to me. All you had was a little canvas bag you could not open that had a face and numismatic value of $25.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

I inherited a big brown box full of those $25 bags and rolls sold by the mint(it is heavy). I have no idea what to do with them, so they just sit in the closet. My father bought one of everything the mint sold for years, I should probably take them to the bank and cash them in but I wont, I have some strange sentimental attachment to these coins since they were my fathers. He really had fun buying all this stuff from the mint, and as long as it made him happy that is all that matters.

Someday one of my heirs will get this box with a note in it giving the history of the coins, then they can decide what to do with them.

I fully understand your attachment to them and I might very well feel the same way if I were in your shoes.

However, I might also be tempted to crack it all open (or at least the ones I could not sell for a premium on eBay) and put together a few sets using the nicest ones, and then deposit the rest. (I would never deposit unopened rolls - there could be errors in there!). If you invest the money in long term investments you will have a heck of a lot more money to hand down when the time comes.

The problem with leaving them for the next generation is that they might go to someone who has no knowledge or interest and thy might end up in a Coinstar machine at a 10% loss.

I would open the bag(s) and check the coins.... If nothing of numismatic value (grade, errors) then just spend them. Cheers, RickO

Remember when a $1000 bag of Delaware quarters was worth $10K?

Q: When does a collector become a numismatist?

A: The year they spend more on their library than their coin collection.

A numismatist is judged more on the content of their library than the content of their cabinet.

Ive bought the 25$ bags of San Francisco since 2013. Trying to catch up on the 2012's for the right price. Don't know why I'm doing it though. Guess I'm just enticed by the lower mintage vs P and D. Probably list them for .99 each on ebay in the future asking myself what i was thinking.

Paper money eventually returns to its intrinsic value. Zero. Voltaire. Ebay coinbowlllc

I've opened a number of these within the past year, and dumped them all down a coinstar.

I went through a couple thousand quarters. No errors, and the bags had some of the ugliest coins I've ever seen in 'em. A lot of them has this white residue, and didn't find any exceptional strikes. Not a single one.

    It was sad... :'(

I think the very early bags have some premium.
