Grade this PCI AU58 Morgan? 1880 S

Saw this at an antique store for $50. Obviously not worth the price at an AU58, however this looks much better than AU58. Still probably not worth the price but worth posting here! I think it looks like it was weakly struck and possibly MS something. Sorry for the bad antique store lighting, I tried my best!

You’re right it is overpriced.
You could easily buy a raw MS64 for that and have money left over.
Yes, I know it isn't worth it but I just wanted to confirm that I am correct in saying this is an MS coin not AU. Testing my grading skills a little that's all.
yes, unc
BHNC #203
Look like a LE 63.
Many years ago, PCI grading could run from one end to the other. I saw coins like this one which were under graded, and I also saw pieces that over graded. PCI was not the soul of consistency. There were collectors who posted here that they had cracked out PCI coins and had them upgraded by PCGS. From what I could see the upgrades were legitimate.
As for the OP coin, it is Mint State, but I'm sure about the eye appeal. The toning might be unattractive. I can't tell from the photo.
If the holder says AU58, there's quite possibly a good reason for that hiding near the tip of Liberty's bust. The picture isn't giving a good view of that spot, so I can't comment further. Either way, it's overpriced at $50 and the toning is negatively affecting eye appeal.

Hard to tell from the pic but the high points look like they could have slight wear. Even if it is Unc it is not high grade and probably worth the $50 at best.
58 is a fair net grade. Doesn't matter if the weakness over the ear and on breast is wear or weak strike, this date is commonly found very nice, and along with nicks on face and funky toning, coin is not a prize, sorry.

The coin does look comparable to low MS Morgans .... Not a coin I would spend $50 for....Cheers, RickO
I maybe the ONLY one but it may be worth the $50.00
Looks like wear or a weak strike on the hair over the ear. I am at 58. Not a $50 coin.
Older PCI can be conservative and sometimes do upgrade. The coin in question lets say its MS62 it still not a 50 buck coin. This date is very available and maybe if I wanted that coin 30 bucks in an old slab. 50 bucks buys the coin on ebay in the link it was a closed auction but not unique
Easy to find a nice 63 or 4 in that price range in a PCGS slab.
Is the mintmark upside down?
Looks like it may be. Would that mean a different pricing situation?
Cleaned, unattractive retoning.
Pass.
This date can be found beautiful and cheaper at any coin show that has more than 1 table.
No its the large S version.
