I remember this like it was yesterday. Everyone was whacking each other with disagrees, and I mean non-stop. Then Mark flips the switch and you suddenly can see that even your own friends were whacking you. A lot of scrambling went on to try and remove them quick.
@Onastone.... A couple of members have made coin clocks... the one I was referring to was a clock with Morgan dollars that each had a shadow of tarnish at the appropriate spot for mounting at the hour designations of a clock...It was interesting. Cheers, RickO
As a newcomer I was surprised that the disagree button was abused to the point that it took on a meaning beyond a simple "I don't agree with you". Too bad because some comments can be disagreed with as more of a "vote" that an attack. Elaboration isn't always necessary.

Perhaps it is simply a courtesy. That way a reader can decide which opinion to agree with (if any).

I like it when they don't even chime in but they'll hit that disagree button in a heartbeat.
To each their own, I guess.
I don't. "Disagrees" remind me of "winks" on a dating site from folks who are too timid or illiterate to write a short message. They show no initiative or real interest.
IMO, if a member does not have something to discuss, stay out of the thread as they have added noting that can be either backed-up or disputed. I enjoy reading BOTH sides of a discussion from members who have something to say - no matter what it is.
@Elemint....No, tarnish does not = toning.... Toning is what people call tarnish, because tarnish sounds negative. Therefore, just another politically correct term to soothe the feelings of sensitive people. Cheers, RickO

I disagree that you agree that a disagreement has been agreed upon. However I'll never agree that any disagreement of mine could cause agreement among others to disagree with me. So it wasn't me.

"Cool !!!"
Etc. so what gives and how does this happen ?
Thanks !!!
Sounds like something a useless and unhappy child might do. Usually they get over it as they grow up.
There's one useless and unhappy child following me around too. Called him out in a PM and found out just how unhinged he is.

Flag the post, punch report, and lay out a case for the mods. Only do this in extreme cases of stalking as most of this is trivial. Folks running up disagrees to specific posters out of "spite," need to be warned then banned if it continues.
Trust me when I tell you that being banned (even for two weeks) from a favorite coin forum is like going cold turkey. When it happened to me, I was pleased to see a "where's Waldo?" type of discussion. Made me feel that some folks missed me as much as I missed them. I was lucky to have a concerned moderator take me aside to teach me how to be less abrasive.

We should go back to the days when commentators' ids were kept secret. It may have stopped some of the whining at least.
I am feeling much better with mine after seeing what could be worse
Found something better than the coinstar machine.
But I'm embarrassed to go wading, as much as I am reaching in a reject slot.
Is the water clean? I can easily collect them all in one dip
Snorkel skills?
Yes , the water came from the muddy Missouri River, but it's filtered and fresh.
Stick to the Coinstar. Otherwise, collect $6.37 cents and come down with flesh-eating bacteria and a 70K hospital bill if you pull through.
I wouldn't disagree with Ricko. But if I did, I'd let him know why. @ricko said:

This must be a reddit post. Usually it's me collecting nothing but "disagree" all over the place.
But seriously, who are all these users with names I'm unfamiliar with clicking "disagree" 40 and 50 times?
It's crazy!
(there guys - I threw my two cents in ... downvote me to oblivion if you wish. A shame you have nothing better to do...)

disagree button is a simple way to say you don't agree with what was posted. Unfortunately, too often it is used because of WHO made the post.
