Finished my type set.

I did a 7070 type set years ago and found it lacking. I found the Kingswood type set put out by David Bowers in the 90's that is a lot more complete. It consisted of 15 Capital type holders. I did not do the early gold holder or the first holder due to cost. My type set starts at 1800. I tried to get them in EF or better. Here are the results of my endeavor. I also included six scans of types that I didn't crack out. I just finished the early gold commemorative holder. All the gold commems in this holder were crackouts so no counterfeits there. I have enjoyed doing this set and welcome any comments. Gary

    Congratulations! It took me years to get everything. When I was filling your case one, I bought two or three coins a year. That took patience. Now that you have the other slots filled, maybe you will go back to it.

    wow!! Awesome collection. That first page reminds me of the early Whitman Small Denomination Type set I started... and quickly gave up... The likelihood that I'd be able to mow enough lawns for a Chain Cent and a Small Eagle Quarter... zero... ;-)

    I wonder how many of those "New Issues Gold, 1795 - 1834" holders were ever completed? I dare say very few, and if there is a holder out there which still has the coins in it, that holder would be rarer than any of the coins that are in it. Filling that holder, even with so-so coins, would require an investment of several hundred thousand dollars.

    How true. As a retired diesel mechanic, that's why I never tried.Thanks for your comments.
