From the pics here and at Heritage I see nothing that would keep this coin from being CACed. Not everyone drinks the CAC Kool Aid. From my experience when someone says something negation on a public forum about a coin being auctioned he's interested in buying it himself and wants to eliminate competition.

Way out of my price range Perry. Honestly just wondering why it wouldn’t CAC as I said assuming it had been there. That assumption of course was that it would bring more money with a sticker. My comments were transparent. Nothing negative intended. Love old gold, but not my field of expertise. Just looking for the education

I find it very hard to believe that a $50,000 coin was not sent to CAC. From the pictures it’s very difficult to get a good feel for what the coins surfaces look like.

Looks like a nicely toned and original coin. I see no problems that would cause CAC to reject it. For what this coin is worth any serious bidders will examine this coin in person at an auction lot viewing and will bid accordingly. The bidders will be either a serious experienced collector or a professional coin dealer who can make up their own minds concerning the condition of this coin. I have no financial interest in this coin but I do object when someone criticizes a coin some else lists on the BST. Unless a coin is counterfeit or seriously misrepresented, you shouldn't be commenting on someone else's coin on the BST.

I deleted the "photo" in the OP.
Apparently no one is reading the Heritage description and notes.
No need to confuse the issue any further. It is a rare and nice coin.
And I hope the auction attendees who have any interest will scrutinize it. I'm pretty sure anyone interested in the issue is well aware of the dip-bright examples that are currently on the market.The BST was never supposed to be a discussion forum.

CAC is very tough on this issue. I know of one recently found in a bank vault after 50 years, prototypical EF and it didn't CAC. Still scratching my head on that one.

Glad to see this. The articles on this coin specifically mention the coloring of the coin due to the composition of the California ore that was sent to the mint and the UNIQUE elements in that early raw gold.
INTERESTED parties ...I am sure... do their research and KNOW what is out there.CAC? Just for beans the real info is that (like Boosibri noted) CAC is VERY tough on the CALs.
Of the certified 1848 CAL coins, PCGS has slabbed 71 pieces, NGC has certified 45....so, out of those 116 coins, CAC has beaned .... 12
Genuine buyers undoubtedly do their research and know the stats.
That's why Heritage has described it as they have.

Toning is not the norm on these.It closes in a week and a day.

Does CAC sticker coins with counterstamps on them? As mentioned, this is a coin for specialists, and they know what the proper grade is. A bean on this wouldn't change the price one way or the other.
